    Checking Fit of Semis

I was at a lgs looking at some 9's I am interested in buying. I looked at some Glocks and a S&W. I told the sales guy that I wanted to get an idea how different models fit my hand and if the pistol naturally pointed at my target without manipulation.

He had me point at a deer head up on the wall. I am wondering if pointing upwards would tend to skew how a self defense gun would point. I don't know if I explained myself well, but when I say point I mean when the gun is brought to bear at a target approximately chest level is the front blade level with and centered in the rear sight.

If you're holding the pistol correctly it should not matter if you're pointing at the ground, straight or towards the sky.

Also, you should learn to "point" shot ALL of your firearms that you plane on using for personal protection.

If you are ever in need to protect yourself the odds of you being able to use the sights are slim.

Practice grabbing your gun from a box and pointing it at a fixed location on the wall; I hope i don't have to tell you to do this with an unloaded firearm.

Practice drawing from a holster in the same way.

After you point check your sights and see how close you are to that fixed spot on the wall.

When you learn to grab your firearm in the right place every time you should be very close to where you need to be.

Now, a lot of ranges won't let you fire from a holster. Check with the range you go to.

What I do is point my firearm towards the ground and bring it up and point it at the target; without using the sights, I pull the trigger.

When you've done this enough time you should be able to put a hole in the paper pretty close to where you are point your firearm.
    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
