    New Springfield XD M Factor....

I know it isn't on Kalifornias DOJ list, but has anyone heard if it will be approved for sale in our lovely state?

I heard not, but it was just gun shop hearsay.

Ditto, rumors are it won't be approved. And I am truly lusting after one...

Springfield Armory hasn't made any 10 round magazines for it yet.
So, that's another thing you have to wait for.
The regular XD magazines are not compatible with the XDm.

I just ask my local shop to order me this XDm only to be told that they could not get it. Needless to say I'm not real happy with my move to sunny california. At least the weather is great...

Its loaded chamber indicator isn't compliant with CA law.

As far as I know, it doesn't have a mag disconnect either.

Gun is made in Croatia, as well as all XD's. I say boycott Springfield for shipping american money to croatia. BBBOOO

Can you educate me on both those points please. The loaded chamber indicator looks the same as on a regular XD, what's the compliance issue? Also what is the mag disconnect? Sorry if that's a stupid noob question, but aside from the mags I can't figure out the issue with an XDm.

I think the new Loaded Chamber Indicator requirement must say "Loaded" and must be visible from 10 feet or something ridiculous like that. The mag disconnect requires the weapon to be disabled if the magazine is out.

I can see the "fin" on my regular XD from 10 feet no problem, looks like the "m" is the same way, too bad they didn't get those "write your name on a piece or rice" guys from the promanade in Santa Monica to write loaded on all of them. Is the mag disconnect a new requirement? Just pulled out my XD and it dry-fires just fine without a mag. Crazy gun laws.

You need a history lesson. The gun was originally made in Croatia and was known as the HS2000. Springfield bought the rights to the gun, which continues to be made in Croatia, its original country of origin.

Most likely not if it is considered a new model. LCI does not comply with the DOJ published standard (not that anything else has either) and it does not have a magazine disconnect safety. IF they had kept all the interal workings exactly the same as already listed models, they might have been able to slip in under the "similar but with cosmetic changes", but it appears they changed it enough to eliminate the need to pull the trigger to field strip the gun. Hence, the CA DOJ will probably consider it a completely new model.

Its sad that our silly laws are keeping guns out that have consumer desired safety features (thumb safety option, field strips w/o pulling the trigger) because it lacks "safety features" that are mandatory (but not generally desired by the consumers).

I am waiting for someone to eventually sue a cop and/or department for being shot with an "unsafe handgun" since LEO agencies (and as individual private citizens) are exempt from the list. I wonder if a LEO brings an "unsafe" gun into the state and then PPT to a non-leo, does the LEO assume a degree of liability if someone's kid is later accidentally shot (or commits suicide) with said weapon?
