The thumb safety is original to a MKIII. Should be ambidextrous as well.

That is a different version, the target sight is completely different.

If you are giving up a rare gun like a wartime Luger, a Broomhandle, or a US property marked 1911, I would tell the other guy to kick rocks.

I'd do it. You can pick up at 500 all day long for $900, and are easily found.

Z read the description "tangent sight/round hammer" not the picture.
Vector was the importer. I didn't know they made this model in the 90's.

Scroll down. Op make the trade.
Hello. A request was made for a sticky thread for folks to post pictures of their Hi Powers. Have at it. Keep in mind that the request for this thread was one for folks JUST to post pictures and describe them. It is NOT a place for arguments or airing differences of opinions. Take that to...

Thanks for the advice. I'm meeting up the guy to inspect the HP today. Anything I should look for?

Hi-Power El Capitan has tangent rear sight and ring hammer. Looks like yours still has the magazine safety in tact.

I sold one in 1993 when it first came out. Yours seems to be in excellent shape. It's not on the CA approved list so it should be worth more than $1,200 or $1,300. I don't believe the grips matter too much. You can get a pair to replace it easily.

Get the SN and check the list to verify manufacture date.

I'd say that mag has seen more than 50 rounds.

Easy enough to field strip so ask them to open it up and take a close look at the guts.

The SN confirms it was made in 94 ... The guy has owned it for 20 years, it's possible that magazine has been in and out numerous times. I'll take a close look at the internals thank you.

It also comes with the original grips, I will more then likely put the original back on. This should be a nice addition next to my small 1911 collection.

Just take your time and inspect to make sure it wasn't abused or poorly taken care of. By the looks of the picture it looks like it's in good condition. My first gun I ever bought was a BHP back in 1980, I have since put over 10K rounds through it. It is one of my favorite guns, enjoy yours.

Quick update, I completed the trade today and it looked even better in person. stripped it down and internal parts looked good. You can tell it's been fired however you can tell round count is really low. Now I won't feel guilty running a few mags through it.

I did compare it with a Browning Hi Power MKiii turners had in the case, I was surprised at the big difference in the finish. The Hi power I picked up Is 20 years old and the finish looked way better.

At the end I'm happy with the trade.

Yea, the early ones had a beautiful finish.. the new ones are more "tactical" and I'm sure less expensive to do..

                                Congrats!
