Don't do it. Donate the funds to Cal gun Foundation. We all know you are compensating.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

take the money and buy a single stage reloading set-up...then you will never be limited on any new gun purchase because of ammo......unless you buy a rimfire 22

Hopefully you are buying it for ****s and giggles, not for any real use.

Next, buy a reloading setup, you will need it.

I crack a grin everytime I shoot mines so to me it's worth it. To each his own. Normally $2 a round. I prefer the Magtechs. Can't wait to try out these 700 Grain hardcast "T-Rex Killers" from ballistic supply.

            Hello MadStyle1

I have an S&W 500 and it is fun to shoot. The one I have is ported and has the interchangeable muzzle break. So with the muzzle break, there is a minimal amount of recoil. And with out the muzzle break installed it has a little more kick, but it's still managible. Now comes the cool part. You will be absolutely amazed with the fireballs that it produces. My employees were a good 150 yards away from where I was shooting mine and they could see them during brood daylight. As for the cost of ammo, it will get costly if you plan on shooting it all the time, but I don't see it as a daily shooter. I see it more as a show piece and an occasional shooter. I hope this helps you.

            Sincerely,
            Justin C.

I rented one a few years back. It's a fun gun but totally impractical.

Who cares if it's practical, it's fun.

I like my .454 Casull better, can shoot .45 Colt in it when I 'm not feeling rambunctious, and a heck of a lot cheaper to reload Casull and Colt.

Also, it is a very sound investment if you live in bear country...

Exactly, if this was your one and only gun sure think long and hard that it's the right one for you. However if you are a collector you always have to have at least one fun gun.

Reload, 500 Special is still pretty damn special and you can go nuclear when you get the urge to clear all of the dust from the rafters.

                          I have speed-loaders for mine.

Then put it in the back of the safe and in 6 months it'll be a new exciting gun.
