Mp9c light primer strikes

I had a M&P Pro with the same problem about two years ago. I called Smith and they sent me a new striker assembly. That did not fix the problem. I sent it to Smith two separate times and both times they put in a new striker assembly (the very definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results). When I got it back after the third striker assembly, I went out and fired the pistol and was still getting light strikes. I came home and was attempting to clean the pistol. When I racked the slide the yellow take down lever inside the frame fell out of the gun. I sent it back to Smith and they fixed the take down lever.

The pistol was perfect after that last trip to Smith. I believe the take down lever was not installed correctly and was lifting the sear slightly and causing the firing pin to drag a bit. This is what I believe was causing the intermittent light strikes.

I have heard a couple cases like this recently. In every instance the user has adjusted the trigger bar loop (candy cane). The most likely theory on this is that you have adjusted the loop too much. Thus, the timing between the sear and striker block is off a little. So, the striker may be being released just a hair before the striker block is completely out of the way. Try reducing the loop until it just releases the sear.

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to when you say the "yellow take down lever." My take down lever is not yellow and it seems to be installed correctly.

Right now the trigger loop does not move the Apex sear that much. Is the top surface of the sear supposed to be parallel with the slide rails/frame of the gun? My sear right now rotates to probably 15 degrees below parallel (front of the sear points slightly below parallel).



Maybe the recoil spring is not strong enough and the slide assembly is not being pushed forward enough to load the striker with enough force?

The "yellow lever" is the sear disconnect.

And yes, the sear should slope down slightly towards the front of the gun, so that means your striker isn't dragging along the top of the sear.

I would try moving the timing of the trigger forward, maybe the trigger bar nub is going past the striker block.

Have you given the guys at Apex a call? I bet they have seen this issue before.

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to when you say the "yellow take down lever." My take down lever is not yellow and it seems to be installed correctly.

He's referring to the yellow lever on the sear block assembly that's labeled "A" in this photo (I think you're thinking of the takedown lever on the side of the frame).
