AR Pistol using 80%, BB, Bobsled, SSE etc

I have done a bunch of research so I think I have it all down.

To do a AR Pistol legally in California I need to:

1. 80% lower (then mill out myself)
2. Assemble with Bullet Button
3. Use Bobsled when assembling for the first time (take pics to show it was originally configured SSE)

Then I can convert it to accept 10rd mags (leaving the BB installed of course).

My post though is about the bobsled. Can I use a block of wood or even better a Vise block that use the mag-lock to secure it in place??

To answer your question.

I would only use a block of wood if it looks into place. Your thought of using your vise block is much better.

When I said piece of wood, I meant with the material near the mag-lock area removed so it would lock in. I think I've seen a post on here where Phase5 uses painted blocks of wood to make there AR Pistols SSE legal for Cali.

I was needing a vise block anyway and buying a $40+ bobsled just seemed like a waste of money to me if all I'm using for is the SSE stuff.

A wood block will work so long as it locks in place.
