RIA 38 Super to 9mm Conversion Function report

Had a chance to run some rounds through my RIA conversion with the SARCO 9mm bbl.

Functioned fine with all ammo JHP and Ball.

    Mags were another issue though.

Using 2 "Stainless Checkmate" brand mags from Brownells which fed fine, the slide did not lock open after the last round with either mag.

Using a RIA 9mm Stainless mag the slide DID lock open after the last round everytime.

Thought I'd try the 38 Super mags from RIA also and to my surprised they functioned perfectly!

Guess I coulda saved the money and not bought the 9mm mags.

Good to hear that this conversion still works. I did mine about 2/3 years ago and it is still running flawlessly. It's always fun sticking it to the dissenters that say this conversion doesn't, or wont work.

Yep! I may upgrade the sights and will have to change the grips.

The Beavertail, and combat style hammer were sent to the wrong address so I never got them, but after shooting this in 38 Super and 9mm I see no need for them as I get zero hammer bite from this pistol as it is. So I saved a few bucks there!

I did the same thing to my .38 Super Commander some time ago. It's cool having a .38 Super / 9mm conversion.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Not only "cool" but a very wise thing to do to have multi caliber capabilities!
Having shot both calibers in your Commander which do you prefer 38 Super or the 9mm? I'm leaning towards the 9mm with my RIA.

Any other mods to the Commander, grips or sights? Looking for ideas for my RIA.

I used my 38 super mags as well. Saved money by not buying 9mm mags

The 9 is cheaper to shoot (when ammo is available at normal price) but I find the .38 more satisfying.
