It looks like one solid piece folded over into a very flat U. Then turned sideways and driven into the frame.

Yes, it has a little bump on it. I tried pinching with fingers and with pliers (protected with a rag). Still nothing.Comment

It could have been jammed in from the wrong direction. If you can't get it on your own, don't damage it. Take it to a machinist or gunsmith. I may be visiting the penisula next month but, I hope someone else can help you before then!
