    HD gun

Planning on picking up a new gun for HD purposes. Will never be carried, and not too concerned with it being a "target shooting" gun. Has to be reliable, have a respectable capacity, and most importantly have an integrated rail so I can mount a light. I love my current SP101 357mag and surefire e2d combo, but I really want something with a higher capacity and would allow for two hands solidly on the weapon.

My current candidates are all 9mm and 45acp. I haven't ruled out getting another 357sig to compliment my G33, but I really feel like 9mm or 45acp is the way to go on this. (BTW, I live in AZ, so 9mm gives me the bonus of extra capacity at the sacrifice of a bit of stopping power)

I've narrowed my list down to:

    S&W M&P45
    Glock 21SF (or possibly a Gen4)
Glock 17 or 34 (i like the slightly longer barrel on the G34 more than anything else about that gun)
Glock 31 (because 357sig is awesome)
I ruled out the XD/XDM pistols because I have always hated their mushy triggers.
I am considering the FNX-45, though I have yet to put hands on one.

What else would be good to look at? I have money burning a hole in my pocket at the moment and wouldn't mind a belated Christmas present to myself.

I may just say screw all those options and go hunt down a CZ SP-01 because my CZ75 would be perfect for the job if it had a rail.

I didn't include the M&P9 on the list because I'm not mentally challenged, and therefor unwilling to pay the $50+ retailers seem to think the magazines are worth, and not patient enough to wait for midway to get them in stock at $35 a piece. M&P45 mags are readily available and Glock mags are always easy to find. And I want at least 5 mags for any gun I own.

Since you're not limited by magazine capacity I'd get an M&P 9mm with x300 Ultra and add a Taylor baseplate giving you 27+1 rounds.
We in Bangor, Maine now baby.

I'd go for the Glock 17 loaded with HP rounds for home use. No need to worry about safeties and all that during a high stress situation.

Having 17 rounds in the mag is plentiful. Mags are abundant and reasonably priced. Wide variety of 9mm loads. Recoil is easier to manage.

            G21 and/or G17

Or maybe a G31 because yes, 357 Sig is awesome!

This is what is really pulling me toward the 17 (or even the 34). I've ran 9mm glocks with zero issues in the past. I like the capacity, and I like the factory 33 round mags that are available. I figure with a loaded mag + 1 in the chamber + a 33 round mag in the night stand I have 51 rounds easily accessible. (probably overkill for HD, but more is better, right?)

HKs and Sigs just don't work for me. I'm not a fan of how HKs feel in my hand, and I completely, utterly dislike Sig triggers. I am considering the SP-01...just a matter of actually finding one. None of the local shops I frequent ever have CZs in the cabinets, and CZ Custom is an hour drive to get to...which may be worth it.

Hmm... I say Glock 31 15+1 of .357sig, I cant argue with that.

S&W M&P CORE, Glock 17 or a 17L. Or (even though there is no rail) a Browning Hi Power..
