G20 or G21?

I'm in the market for a new handgun and have it narrowed down to a glock 21 or a glock 20. I already have a g27 (that is an everyday carry) and a g23 and I reload for my range ammo for .40 and I will reload for my new one as well. I like the idea of both a 45 because, well who doesn't like a 45 right? And the 10mm because it packs a punch if I'm out hiking.

What do you guys think? Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

.45 and that's only because of ammo availability and price, and some of the +p stuff is not to far off from some 10mm loads.
if price and availability is not an issue for you, 10mm all day and all night with underwood ammo or buffalo bore, the other 10mm stuff is underpowered

Cheapest: G21 + 10mm conversion barrel.*

*The 10mm gets more velocity change than the .45acp in a longer/extended barrel.

I'm partial to the 20, but you can easily convert the 21 to 10mm as well with just a barrel

I have both and reload. I carry home buckets of .45 brass but 10mm is rare. You will lose quite a bit of your 10mm brass and will have to supplement occasionally with buying new brass or factory ammo to replace the brass you lost.
I don't shoot 10mm much (though i enjoy it) so it's not that big a deal to me.

Yeah just gt both man. I am on the same page as the other members. That 10mm is awesome. It really hits hard and the G20 handles the recoil exceptionally well. But the ammo is not that popular and not as readily available as .45. I say get the 21 for now so you can at least shoot often and then get the 20. If you can afford both now, then get both because you'll regret not have both. I really wish 10mm was more popular.

That's the whole reason I got a G20, was because I wanted to mess with 10mm!

You already have the dies, bullets, and likely a lot of powders that will work great in the 10mm. Go with the 20, or if you can afford the extra 200 bucks, get a G21 and a 45-10 conversion barrel and a couple of 10mm magazines. If you can only do one, since you load your own, and already have everything for 10, go with it. It's much more versatile than the 45!

I have both, love both.

You can go the G21 and 10mm conversion route, but conversion barrels can be a little less reliable, so may not be your choice for serious woods carry (like Alaska or Rockies kind of serious).

Another option for better reliability is buy the G20 and buy a complete G21 slide assembly. I bought a complete new G21 slide assembly on gunbroker for $280.

Another option for woods carry with the G21 is .45 Super. I load .45 Super to the same ME levels as my hottest 10mm loads. All I do is add a 22lb ISMI spring (same as I add for my G20 with hot loads).

On the guns, regardless of which you choose, check out the various frame options. I prefer the G20SF/G21SF (or Gen 4) to the standard frame. Also, the Gen 4 RSA is superior to the single spring Gen 3 setup when running hot loads. Unless you go to a 22lb spring on the Gen 3 guns, you will get frame battering on the hotter loads. The Gen 4 RSA takes care of that.

Bill has sound advice on the G20 with the G21 upper. Then get a .40 S&W barrel and you are covered.

I have both. The 10mm definitely packs a punch, but I hit more consistently and quicker with the G21. If you don't reload definitely go G21. 10mm is just more of a novelty range toy to me, unless I ever move into bear country.
