    Wouldn't recommend the Taurus 94

Horrendous double action trigger pull. My least favorite firearm. Sits at the back of the safe feeling rightfully neglected.

I have a Single-Six and Colt New Frontier. Both are great S/A 22s. Love the classic four click C-O-L-T action of the New Frontier. Would like to add an S&W 617 or K22 Masterpiece next.

            On SA vs DA

Unless you're REALLLLLLY good, it's hard to keep that can or plastic bottle dancing on the dirt with a single action revolver. It's a no brainer with a DA wheelie.

Buy a good Smith or Colt and you only have to do it once.

Anyone have any experience with the Heritage Arms Rough Rider .22LR / .22 Mag combo range of guns? Are they reasonable for the money?

I have an EAA Bounty Hunter, which is pretty similar to the Rough Rider.

It's a fun plinker and reasonably accurate, though it spits a little from the cylinder gap. It's not as nicely made as the Ruger Single Six - fit, finish, and overall quality aren't as clean.

If budget is really critical, the Rough Rider or Bounty Hunter are OK plinkers, but if you can swing a little more for a Single Six, you'll never regret it, IMO. They're not that much more if you can find a clean used one.

Thanks for the info. I don't know, I just like the idea of of a .22 Mag revolver, which I can plink with the rest of the time using bulk .22LR.

Yeah, the .22 mag is a fun add-on, even though it's a good bit more expensive to shoot. Definitely has a bigger bang, more recoil, and more flash, but still very manageable. I've got 2 convertibles - a Single Six and the Bounty Hunter - and I like to put a few cylinders of .22 mag through them when they make it to the range.

The Rough Rider has a good rep for the price. though I don't own one. Anyone notice Turners has .32mag versions now at around $300, interesting but too high I feel.

The EAA Bounty hunter in .22 has a different maker than the big bore models and I hear the .22 versions have more issues. My .45lc version is great though, bought it only due to price, $125 in great shape, dec of 2003.
