CBOB's are GTG... CBOB & PM7 only available to CA. Outside of CA, it's the VBOB & the Valor.
Yes the CBOB's have a # of Ed Brown parts. I have the DW Valor & CCO, awesome guns. Do your homework.
Some of the older CBOB's & PM7, I want to say before 2010 were a lot cheaper. The buyer prob got it for around $900, the new ones post 2010 are around $1500. I prob wouldn't pay more than $1200 for a CBOB right now... just my opinion. Anymore than that, just SSE a VBOB. -
I don't have a strong opinion on either one but I have compared the two (CBOB and KC) and FEEL that the KC is a better gun. I have shot a CBOB (100 rds only though) and it was good. I have shot an Ed Brown (100 rds or so) and it felt great.
The CBOB is 50% cheaper than the KC. However, I personally would save up to get the KC instead. It looks like an well crafted machine. It is on my list of 1911's to have...
My opinion is free so take it for what it's worth. Good luck! One Way to Post Pics ********** How to Submit an iTrader Rating That Counts ********** Brass for Sale

I have a CBOB and a PM7 - I like them very much, excellent pistols and so far as I'm concerned worth more than the $975.00 I paid for each a few years back. But, I wouldn't pay the current CA asking price for one because it's an artificial high - the money isn't "in the pistol" but rather it's caused by the roster and CA only market. Perhaps I'd feel differently if I didn't already have one.
Since the CBOB is still on roster, perhaps finding one out of state and having it sent in makes economic sense, especially if one finds a good deal and a CA FFL who doesn't charge too much for the out of state transfer. I'd stick with the "CZ made" DW rather than an earlier version.
Going back to the CBOB in general, I like it because the fit is very tight and the gun's appearance is clean and neat. No "spray on" type finish just nice, bare stainless. I can't do the "if I could keep just one 1911" bit but were I so inclined the CBOB would be right up there.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Although I was originally looking at the Kobra Carry, I ended up with the CBOB because of the price difference. No regrets whatsoever - the CBOB has been a great gun. Zero issues, great quality, and a great shooter. There could still be a KC in my future but for now, I'm content with the CBOB.NRA Life MemberComment

The CBOB is an excellent 1911. Dan Wesson is in the middle between the cheaper 1911's and the expensive ones (like Ed Brown, Nighthawk, Wilson, etc). 3 years ago Dan Wesson switched over from cast to forged frame and some parts, and the price went up. Still a great deal even at todays prices. The newer Dan Wessons will never make it on the roster because they don't have the mag disconnects or chamber loaded indicator. They left the CBOB and PM7 in production in small quantities because they were already on the roster (just for CA). You can get the newer models via SSE if you want.
Two big thumbs up for Dan Wesson 1911's!!Last edited by Legasat; 12-17-2013, 3:33 PM...

I have been on the lookout for the CBOB and will likely buy it when I find it. I have the PM-7 right now and absolutely love it. For me it is almost the perfect gun. Great trigger, reliability and accuracy.Come and Take It!

Oh btw, since the OP also asked about Colt Commander, maybe I should add this. I owned a Colt XSE Commander and it was a nice 1911. I liked it a lot and it's a Colt! However, I feel that it is inferior to a CBOB in terms of fit, finish, trigger, quality of parts. One Way to Post Pics ********** How to Submit an iTrader Rating That Counts ********** Brass for Sale
