I don't understand, whats the purpose of getting a double stacked gun if you're restricted to using a 10 round magazine? What am I missing?

The original poster has preban high capacity magazines.

The OP says he has pre-ban hi-caps. Also on a seperate note you can go out of state on a shooting trip buy some hi-caps and have fun all day, just DONT bring them back as complete mags

Dad used to have one in built up in .38 super and I have a couple of mags left and the gun was sold a long time ago. I just hope all double stack 1911 mags are the same.

I was never able to get 9mm and 38Super mags to interchange, at least single stack, without changing the feed lips.

If they do not fit . I can buy some rebuild kits and switch out and/or modify parts so as to have the same number of standard cap mags as I started with?

That seems to be the prevailing wisdom around here.
