    Looking for a subcompact

I have started my search for a subcompact and would like some input from people who have shot and handled the following. Glock 26 gen 3 or 4, XDS and Sig M11-A1.
    Thanks in advance

Glock 26 Gen 4. it is an awesome handgun. of my G17, G19, and G26, the G26 is my favorite to shoot right now. definitely get the Gen 4 as it comes with interchangeable backstraps and i love the beaver tail.

What are you doing with it? I had a G26 that I sold, and currently have an XDs9. I OWB carry a G19 and IWB the XDs. I am definitely a Glock guy, but the XDs is much thinner for IWB carry.

I have the 26 and the xds. I like to shoot the glock more and carry the xds more. The xds shoots very well however. Can't go wrong with either. There is a very noticeable difference with printing when carrying iwb.

I don't know if I would call the Sig a sub-compact. I haven't shot an XDs but have handled one. I own a Glock 27 and it is a bit bulky compared to the newer sub-compacts (XDs, and S&W shield). It does offer greater capacity then those two though. Personal preference for me would be the XDs, simply because it is thinner than the Glock making a bit easier to conceal in the summer. For a range gun, or HD gun I would go with the Sig.

The Sig you mentioned is a compact; it's within the same dimensions as the P228 and P229.

Look up the Glock 30; it's a sub-compact, but eerily accurate for its size.

that sig, the p228 and p229 are all still large guns. i have a p245 (p220 compact) and its still a fairly large gun.

I also agree with the G30. great handgun and a favorite shooter!

Itching to pull the trigger on this compact. About $1.2K OTD... Sardines and corn beef for a month and I'll be ready to buy.

The sig was a last choice because of the size. I already have a 226. I'm looking for somethimg to easily conceal around my house, and for when we go to free states. I already have an M&P shield in .40 and would prefer a different caliber, to get away from the snappy round. I would defiantly go for a compact 1911, but prefer polymer for the weight. I defiantly prefer the gen 4 glocks, they just feel so much better in your hands. I haven't handled the new XDS yet, but have shot a tactical XD40 and the XDM in .45. Wasn't a fan of the XDM, so I hope the XDS is better.

I recently had the opportunity to handle the 26, XDs, and S&W Shield at my local shop. I picked up the shield 10 days later. The shield feels thinner and lighter than the others to me.

Based on your post including the SIG M11-A1, can I assume you aren't under budget constraints that would limit you to a $500-$600 gun?

If not, I would strongly urge you to look at the HK P2000 SK. IMO, there is simply no better polymer frame sub compact. They aren't cheap, but neither would the SIG be, and they are small, and extremely rugged and reliable. They are also relatively soft shooting guns, as they employ HKs buffered recoil system.

I would place the Glock and the XD as pretty much equal, and think the decision between those two should rest on which one feels better (in your hands) to you.

As already mentioned, the SIG is a compact, not a sub compact. A great pistol, but larger than the others. Assuming you intend the pistol for concealed carry, which is the most common reason to opt for a sub compact, the SIG will be harder to hide than those others. Still doable, but with a little more effort.

Love my glock 26 gen 4, when range shooting I like to use glock 19 mags with the

My vote goes to the G 26... But also take a look at the Ruger LC9 if you've not fully decided.

Sig Sauer .380 P238. Although some have had a less than stellar "out of the box" record (FTF and FTE). Mine being in that category took a quick trip back to the factory for a warrantied groom up that IMO should have been done in the first place before it was released from the factory. It's now running fine but I still need to put more rounds through it to feel comfortable enough to rely on it as one of my CCW EDCs. So until that happens, my 9mm M&P Shield carried appendix in a Remora holster is doing quite well with zero FTF and FTE and priced at just a bit more than half of what the HDW cost me.
