    Just can't decide

I went back to the store and fondled a Colt Government, SA loaded, Kimber TLE Custom II, Sig 1911..

I originally wanted a Sig P220 but I'm pretty set on either:

    Colt Government
    Kimber TLE Custom II

I would like a SA TRP and eventually will get one I imagine but I'm thinking right now I should start with something a bit cheaper.

Are warranties better for either one? Customer service?

Both are similarly reliable and accurate out of the box?

They both felt great in my hand, triggers felt good.

The beaver tail on I think the Kimber was pretty big and made it a bit harder to cock with my thumb...

Of the two, I'd get the colt. You can ALWAYS get your money out of it later if needed.

The Kimber is a good pistol; Kimber makes good guns.

The Colt is a Colt. It's the "original" 1911. Get the Colt.

I have a Kimber and the exact same Colt. Kimber's fit and finish are better than the Colt's. The TLE II is a good gun. My friend has the railed version.

I would pick the TLE II over the Colt Government. But I understand the "Colt is a Colt" argument.

That's probably why I have both

It doesn't matter. We all know you're going to end up with both of them eventually.

After almost 11,000 flawless rounds my TLE II is still running like new. Never had any issues with it. I can't speak to Kimber's customer service because, unlike some other manufacturers, I've never had to use it. The features they include and the fit and finish are what got me to buy mine back in 2006. If I was buying another 1911 tomorrow I wouldn't even consider anything other than a Kimber.

Between those two, i'd buy the Colt... or you can put this money toward a TRP.

I have both and the Sig blows the Colt away in fit and finish, the hammer, Beaver tail, sights, trigger and the plastic MSH, will all be replacedOn the Colt if you shoot some ones 1911 with all the up grades.

If you buy the Colt, you need to replace the beavertail, thumb safety and sights. And maybe add front strap checkering for a better grip. So that's about $300 to $350 more on top of the purchase price. Even with those upgrades, the Colt quality cannot match Kimber's unless its one of their special runs like Talo's or Wiley Clapp.
Go with Kimber, you'll be happier.

+1 Nothing against the Colt, but feature-wise, I'm sure you'd eventually put a few hundred dollars into upgrades to put it on par with the Kimber.
