    P85 MkII HELP

I have recently acquired a P85 MkII from my Father's estate. I am not familiar with any semi-auto handguns, so please bear with me as my knowledge is limited to shotguns and revolvers.

When acquired this firearm had previous fail to fire issues---wouldn't release hammer in SA or DA mode.

I decided to dive in and break it down, putting it back together I was able to have it dry fire without issue however the guide rod is protruding from the slide by about 3/16". Assembling it so that the guide rod is in the correct location cause it to fail to fire unless you pull the slide rearward ever so slightly. It will fire correctly with the slide removed.

Hopefully that is enough info to clue you folks in as to the source of the problem (other than the fact that it's a Ruger--I know they don't have the best reputation).

Thank you very much for your help!

Update as the problem is fixed.

Apparently the aftermarket laser sight that was installed has a set screw that is too long and interferes the firing pin block. Removal of the laser sight and all is well.

      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
