PSA: Single Shot Exemption does not end Jan. 1, 2014

That is all. Thanks. Carry on with the "has anybody ever shot a <insert super common gun> before" threads.

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Well, having said that ... if you do plan to SSE something "in the future" and it's down the list of things you can get that's on the roster ... there is no harm in bumping it up anyway, since you never know. I mean when the ammo famine hit (again) the people "in the know" kept saying "Well, you should have stocked up before!". So if things change and SSE is in danger again, there will be a panic and ... well you should have done it before!

I think many people SSE things just to give a ($100) finger to the CA roster for it's complete stupidity.

And now, like when OLL/OLR broke and so many FFLs were shy about approaching it to the point of spreading DOJ FUD over and over, we need to get more dealers to tighten up their back-bones and do SSE more widely.

Many of those same dealers from 2006 through 2008 or so that kept saying OLL and Bullet-Buttons were HIGHLY illegal, screaming that we would all go to jail, blah, blah, are now overstocked and swamped with sales on AR, AK, HK91 and FAL based rifles and they are now SO KNOWLEDGABLE about the whole thing.... talking like they came up with the OLL approach and bullet-button concept themselves.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

I plan to SSE 1 gun a month until Jan 1st 2015. The ban may not pass next year but the odds look good so I will get prepared just in case.

My worry with SSE with handguns going into 2014 revolves around the rebuild kit ban on high capacity magazines.

What if you SSE a gun and there is not a 10rd magazine for that model then you would run into issues if you could even SSE the gun. Correct me if I am wrong on this? ( one example that comes into mind is xdm pistols with no 10rd mags)

One of the big reasons I got my XDM. That, and I seem to shoot it better than any other pistol I own!

Dealers that can stock/sell hi cap mags could make them into 10rders for you.

Brown said he will sign a law banning SSE, just not the one they wrote. There were restrictions in it that he knew would not hold up in court. I'd recommend you SSE anything you want before 2015.

But for now, buy rifles until Dec 20. Anything after that will have to be picked up in 2014 and require registration (10 day wait and all) 2014.
