    Glock sights question

Is the slide for the Glock 17 alot different as far as the sights are concerned when compared to the Glock 26, 27, 33, and 39.

Reason why is I bought some Meprolight trintium night sights and just realized I got the wrong kind.

    This is what I got:

And I guess this is what I should have gotten:

Before I return them would the first sights fit on a Glock 17 Slide or is the dovetail different

The ones you got are the exact samy ones I have on my Glock 23c. They work very well. Mine have orange rear with green front. I like the contrast and find that they are very fast to get on target. Just install and enjoy.

It looks like the difference is the 17 set is set at sight length. The ones you got seem to set the sight back for compacts to about 17 sight radius length.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction, lots of good info to read. This article was especially helpful.

I will probably keep the stock glock rear sight and just mount the tritium front sight on it

Why does everyone assume they are going to get shot in the arm and lose mobility. My cousin was shot in the tricep in combat and still was able to stay in the fight and rack the gun if he needed to with none of this tactical crap. It's like how everyone assumes the day WROL comes every rifle will be barrier in 4ft of sand every day you need to use it. I get it. It's new and all combat instructors use it and are teaching it guys tactical joes eat it up all day and say "oh yea I will probably lose my arm... Then what?!" Same as the must have 1 point slings, same as the BAD levers, same as the sight mounted sights, same as the BUIS, same as every other fad "MUST HAVE" or else it's useless junk. Sure it's not bad to train but the fact that if a sight doesn't have this option makes it unusable is getting stupid because I see it in every sight review or question about sights now. It's a fantasy. It's a 1% chance your hand or arm will be shot or blown off and you won't be able to use it. And trust me if you take on that much trauma your not shooting anything you'll be so far gone in shock from the pain or realization and fear you just lost your arm or hand not to mention the amount of probably blood loss you will suffer if you "focus on racking the slide and continuing to fight" than treating your now disabled wounded arm bleeding arm. I've seen people lock up from shock from a lot less as an EMT.

We know you'll be out of the fight as soon as you realize your teammates have muzzle breaks sorry had to do it CK_32 lol.

I'm really liking warren tactical 1 dot rear and Trijicon HD orange front sight. 3 dots are not as fast from what I've been told your brain naturally likes to line things up and sometimes a 3 dot will confuse your brain when speed is critical.

CK_32, relax ... we know it's not completely realistic, but that's not what we want. Lets face it, for most of us, pistol training is FUN. It helps us learn to shoot better and it's learning a new skill. Seriously, if you go to golf camp or baseball camp ... most of that has no real world applications outside of "the game", but we do it for fun.

If you think about it, "pistol training" is also a complete "fantasy". Really, are we going to find ourselves in some sort of combat situation? No, not most of us. If we're cops or armed security or whatever, then we'd NEED that training ... and if that's the case, you might as well teach all those fancy one handed racking techniques.

I think the point is that if you ever go to a training course where they teach that, the Glock plastic sights might break, and then ... what? You are in the middle of a paid training session with no rear sight!

It's also true that probably all the LEOs and soldiers who DO use Glocks, because that's what they are issued are actually on duty with their plastic Glock sights.

If you have 20 handguns, you probably aren't going to get 20 sets of fancy sights for all of them, but if you have one or two, you might as well splurge and get the sights you like, regardless of tactical-coolness.

Yeah, thats always the stuff I read "WHEN YOUR HAND GETS BLOWN OFF AND YOU CANT RACK THE SLIDE." If you have that bad of a wound where you cant rack a slide on a gun you need to either A. Treat your wounds cause id imagine you're gonna be loosing a good amount of blood. or B. Come back to reality cause thats not gonna happen haha

If someone is that worried out one handed "operations" they should get good at reloading a revolver haha

I'm calm. Its just annoying to see FUD pushing someone away from perfectly good sights or talking them into sights that have a feature that is just a tactical "must have".

I'm 100% for night sights, metal sights, especially over Glocks plastics but the fact that everyone swears by the claw right now and everything else is so useless and outdated it is getting old. Like I said I get the fantasy and sure maybe for 1 and 1,000,000 it will come in handy but I cant stand fads espeically when people push them as if your life WILL in fact depend on that one feature and if you don't have it or train on it every day you will die.

Again I understand it and think it was a smart idea, I really do. I actually liked it and almost bought a set but seeing guys push it day in and day out and talk someone out of other great sights ALL because one has a claw and the other doesn't for that one purpose to grab the belt and rack the slide is like ok enough already. Almost as bad as the once a day SHTF WROL paranoia and stuff. Yea there is nothing wrong with wanting to be ready for the "just in case" but give it a break already

Especially when I see it doing more harm than good 90% of the time seeing kids and grown men "training" at the ranges and cutting them selves pinching their skin trying to do it or have the gun pointing directly at their foot and leg trying to combat rack these stupid things because everyone's doing it all for a 1 and 1,000,000 maybe you will lose an arm in some crazy situation AND run out of ammo all at the same time.

i personally like the Trijicon HD sets for glocks.

i've ran stock sights, regular trijicon night sights, and the HDs on my glocks and the HDs are my favorite balance of sights.

Yea I have a couple times with my 1911 actually. I've even shot a 4 shot .3" group with my Glock 17 at 8 yards before. I have 2 CGNers who were there when it happened. That's what happens when you actually take time and shoot your guns. Out of a few thousand rounds a year you tend to get some decent groups once and a while you can be proud of. If you hit your local range as often as I do you'll meet a few guys who can do that on a daily basis and literally punch out the bull of their target with a wheel gun at 25 yards. I'm not one of them my stars just happened to align on those particular days.

But let's stay on the sight discussion.

You know, I was listening to you until you made these comments.
A the plastic sights on my Wifes glock (it is her gun that I bought the sights for) have held up pretty good, I was wanting to upgrade them to Steel.

B The bucket does not "clutter her sight picture" nor mine when I shoot it as The rear sight is blurry due to focusing on the front sight.

C You have no clue about me, yet you make this comment. You dont think I didnt already take calipers to measure the width and compare it to the factory sights? Plus yes I do know "know enough about pistol sights" to line them up and engage a target having carried a M-9 for 12 of my 20 years in the Marine Corps.

Dont know where you come off being the End all be all.
