    P220 combat grips causing failure

I bought some aftermarket p220 checkered hogue grips off eBay for my combat...

When I put them on and went to the range to fire, the right grip wasn't allowing the mechanism to function properly causing a failure to feed...

I called hogue they told me to Dremel out the grip...I'm spending good money on grips I'm not dremelling nothing...

    I returned grips

Called sig , and they said " we guarantee our grips won't do that"

Even though it's obvious hogue makes the grips for them

So I bought some hogue/sig aftermarket g10 checkered black grips for my p220 combat directly from sig...

    Same thing happened!

I called sig and they had me take pics of the inner grips

You can clearly see in the pics the right grip is cut completely different than the stock ones that come on gun

The gunsmith agreed through the pics that they were causing a failure due to the amount of material in the grip...and they refunded me

They have no solution for me at this point

So I really would like to put black grips on

    Anyone else have this problem?
Are the polymer aftermarket grips fine?
I really like the aluminum/g10 feel but I'll go with polymer for time being.
Anyone out there shooting fine with dif grips?

I have the hogue rubber grips on my 229. They work flawless. No mods required.

I put Crimson Trace on a 228, and I like it.

            oakieV,

Consider buying a set of there hex grip screws. I think Hogue may be right but instead of dremeling out the grip try sand paper. It just might be a hair of wood hanging you up.

            Good luck,

I have heard of this phenom with SIG Europeans with the mag catch on the heel of the grip frame. The grips would rub on the decocker mechanism.

Bought a set of Hogue cocobolos for my Ruger P90.

                  Not...

                  even...

                  close...

$100-ish spent & I gotta break out the Dremel?

                  Seriously?

Got a set of their rubbers & while they work, fit is nowhere near as good as Uncle Mike's hard checkered rubber...

                  ...which are out of production.

Just dremel out the grip. Then send a before and after pic to Houge customer service. The WILL make it right. What's the rev # on the grips? perhaps you have an older set or something- they constantly update their grips.

How old is your pistol? do you have the short plastic mainspring housing or the newer long one?

They were the updated grips....the second set was ordered directly from sig...the gun is around two years old...

Could it be the pictured spring? I noticed sig has a diffrent spring with a loop in it? Im still looking for answers on this? Sig nor hogue can give me one? Anyone know a smith in the tri valley area that could look at this?

If you have another Sig or know someone that has one, try the short plastic mainspring boot. You have the newer long one that works with the e2 grips. You have the correct trigger bar spring installed. You have the "old" style which is correct for the 220.

I thought the short boot was for the e2 grips? Not the other way around
