    FTF/PPT FEES ?

Went to a Local FFL here in Sacramento to do a FTF/PPT, straight trade, no cash involved. The Price was $36.00 for EACH involved party=$72.00. My Trading buddy, (both of us are Calgunners) said CADOJ said $35.00 was the max that could be charged. They STRONGLY dissagreed We decided to do business with someone else. Whats the bottom line here? Were we wrong??

The price is $35 per FTF/PPT Transfer. No argument

If you were each transferring a gun, then it would have been $70...$35 for each FTF transfer.

+1. Each handgun needs its own DROS so you guys would be paying for one each.

While the $36 is wrong, I'm not understanding if you and your buddy wanted to pay $35 total or if you guys were arguing over the extra $1 per transfer.

I've been charged $50 a couple of times. I know a guy in Martinez that will do PPT for $30. With the price of gas, I think $5 or less will not matter if they are right around the corner. What I don't get is, there are some that still insist on a receipt for a purchased approved lock. Oh! yeah they happen to sell the lock and the cheapest one is almost $15. Yup! In Sacramento and a big sporting goods store. The FFL I use in Vallejo charges $35 for PPT, but he'll provide the lock if the buyer doesn't have one. If you want the info of these FFLs let me know.

We both had locks so they couldn't charge for that. Our refusal was on principal, we KNEW we were right, after all were Calgunners The guy behind the counter said "DOJ told US that is what were supposed to charge", when we challenged his statement his reply was " If you want us to do it" (transfer)your gonna pay $36.00 each. The extra dollar was not the issue, the extra attitude was. It's an indoor range/retail store and the only reason we went OUT OF OUR WAY to Elk Grove was; they are open on Sundays! Prices are high as well

That they are! I'd recommend going to J&G. They are so friendly and helpful and are more then happy to do PPT's.
