Beretta 92 jamming??

If is not the ammo or the magazines then your problem is most likely being caused by the extractor.

Semi autos have controlled feeding. The cartridge is supposed to slide under the extractor as it feeds from the magazine. If it fails to do this then the cartridge will not be in alignment with the barrel.

I suggest that you remove the slide and try to slide a case under the extractor.
It should slide in easily but still hold on to the case when you let it go.

You may have a burr or debris on the extractor hook preventing the round from sliding under the hook. You may just need to lubricate the extractor and work it back and forth.

You can also watch this function by feeding a round slowly from the magazine to see if the rim slides into position under the hook.

Almost on the same note I was having a consistent FTE with a 945.

After some lubrication and working the extractor in and out the FTE went away.


Check it out and let us know if this is the problem.

Thank you for your suggestion. That diagnosis does make sense to me as there is a definite reason why the cartridge is obviously feeding out of alignment from the magazine- although the fact it is 100% of the time feeding low ie slamming into the feedramp still confuses me. As someone mentioned earlier in thread, Beretta 92s have very straight/not steep feedramps when I compare them to all my other handguns and there is something causing the nose of the bullet to bang straight into the ramp, so the cartridge is still completely horizontal, just the lower half of the nose of the bullet is pressing right into the feedramp while back end of the cartridge still in the magazine, makes it a real pain to clear cause can't eject mag since bullet jammed so hard against feedramp and won't budge. Something not allowing that cartridge to feed a bit higher and just slide smoothly into the chamber. Will try this technique as soon as I'm back as I don't have the Beretta 92 w me overseas. Thank you

the only issue i had with mine was with reload oal the 92's i have had like an oal of 1.14 to 1.16. anything lower than that i would get malfs like you describe. once i reset my oal's it's run flawlessly. but, that's just me.

Mag or extractor. My brothers did the same-his problem was ****ty reloads. Polishing the feed ramp is a good thing to do to all pistols. Probably not the mags
