    Beretta 92 jamming??

You have all been very helpful in the past so I figured I'd throw this one out there. I bought a new Beretta 92 a couple years ago and the 3 times I took it to the range, although I love the fact it seems to work great for me as far as ergos, natural poa etc and it proved after first range trip to be one of most accurate handguns I own, it jams quite a bit. Came w 2 Italian Beretta mags and even bought a couple Meg Car mags and various others and same issue. Normally I would just get rid of it since none of my 8 other semi autos of various types have ever jammed on me more than once- but I want to keep my Beretta as I shoot it well (when it works!)

Sorry- I am not able to post pics right now as I am currently based overseas and not due home for another 2 months.
The issue is- and it happens both when I am racking the first round in the chamber and after as well mid shooting(and w all different types of ammo have tried in both HP and FMJ), the nose of the bullet slams against what I could only best describe as towards the bottom of the feed ramp. On the Beretta, I find the feed ramps are much less steep compared to my other handguns. Never a stove pipe, and I am not babying the slide when I rack it, but it is the exact same issue- nose of bullet halfway feeds from mag and slams hard into feedramp and gets stuck, rather than traveling up into the chamber. Takes a while to clear since back of cartridge still in magazine but nose of bullet slammed so hard into feedramp that I have to sometimes take a screwdriver to lodge it loose and out.
Again, sorry I can't post pics but that is best way can describe to you, and always just that same exact issue, w various magazines have tried.
Feel that this is an issue that those out there who are much wiser than me could diagnose, just don't feel like sending whole gun back to Beretta when return home.

Although I have built AR's, I am not the handiest guy when comes to working on things like this, was wondering your thoughts on what is keeping the cartridge from continuing on up into the chamber. Thank you all in advance as your advice is always greatly appreciated. I'm located in Pasadena/SGV, is there a shop I can take it to that is reputable for this type of thing? Any thoughts or assistance much appreciated.

Wonder if the ramp is not machined properly? (low probability but it can happen).

Maybe the gun isn't broken in enough yet? My cousin's did the same thing.

Yeah not sure, maybe best bet when I get home is to just deal w Beretta Warranty service, would rather just take to reputable gunsmith though. Never really liked the idea of breaking handguns in- guess I understand w something like a custom 1911 w tight tolerances, but something like a stock Beretta 92 I see no reason why mine shouldn't be shooting right out of the box just like everyone else's. Put hundreds of rounds down range and w price of ammo these days even for plinking, don't feel should have to go through $500 additionally in ammo to get a stock Beretta 92 working correctly. And fact that 1 out of every 3 times I rack the slide to chamber first round it does the same thing tells me something is off here.

My M9 hasn't ever jammed on factory ammo.

When you're back in town you can come to a CalGuns IE shoot at Rancho Magnun Range and we can compare/swap part to figure out the problem.

Very odd. I have an M9. The feed ramp looks well polished on mine. There are some extremely small machine marks but they don't adversely affect operation. This is with the 2 factory Beretta 10 round mags and 4 10 round Mecgars I bought. The 1st 100 rounds were 124gr Blazer Brass. Been through almost 200 rounds more of 115gr Freedom Munitions reloads with no issues.

Thank you for the offer Ewc, if time permits I will let you know if I am able to make it to a shoot once I am back home in 2 months. The feedramp itself looks flawless, very smooth, but some type of issue here and would really like to have confidence in my Beretta when I'm back in country. Like said, if it were any other handgun that jammed on me repeatedly, even always in the exact same way as in this case, I'd get rid of it asap as all my semis function flawlessly, but really want to keep the Beretta cause it's a shooter (when it shoots!). Definitely not mag or ammo related as tried all sorts of both before going overseas and same exact issue. Thanks

I own 2 92's. FS and G model. Carried 92 on and off duty, spend few years with M9. I haver never seen a 92 jam. I only used ( and use) Beretta 15 rd magazines, Premium Fed. JHP ammo and/or fresh NATO ball.

How good are you cleaning the feed ramp? I have had feed ramps get so much build up that the same thing would happen. If it's clean, try polishing the feed ramp.

Send it to Beretta, something definitely wrong, since the 92 is renowned for it's reliability. My 92 FC has never skipped a beat, not once, in several thousand rounds.

My m9 jammed with new mags so i kept the mags loaded and tried to use them often. Took a while but it did loosen and it never jams at all. My problem would be fixed with a rack of the slide i am not sure if it would help.

Does this happen with different mags?

Is there any possibility that the magazines springs have been installed backwards?

Have you disassembled the magazines cleaned and lubricated them?

When I first tried to load the ten round magazines that came with the 92 it was very difficult. They were disassembled cleaned and lubed. This help a lot.

I still use a HK 940 loader as the spring is very stiff.

The Beretta seems to be bullet proof as far as feeding reliably.

Check the feed ramp and clean and lube the magazines.

If it doesn't work after that, then you can check for other problem areas.

92s are modern designed pistols with very straight feed---that is, the loaded round goes almost directly from the magazine to the chamber---unlike older designs like say, a 1911. I personally don't care for the ergos or "feel" of the 92 grip---but I have shot several and none have ever jammed---very reliable pistol. Two things, have a very experinced shooter try the pistol and try various brands of ammo---not range reloads!

Thank you all for your suggestions as always, Calguns members always great to me. One thing though as mag and ammo related comments keep popping up in this thread up- as I stated in my first and second post in this thread, it cannot be mag or ammo related, have tried all sorts of mags in addition to the 2 the Beretta came with and all sorts of ammo, no reloads- I mean like 12 different brands. Same exact issue still happens- nose of bullet straight into the feedramp pressed firmly to point where takes a while to pry it out since back end of cartridge still in magazine.
And you could eat off the feedramp it is so clean and polished looking. Plan is to find a good gunsmith when get back in country in 2 mos.

Any suggestions of good gunsmiths in SGV area much appreciated. Thanks
