Ordering my first CZ tonight. Help me decide which one.

Don't know how to add a poll from tapatalk. I'll add one later.

About to order my first CZ, these are what I have narrowed it down to in my price range. Please refrain from suggesting more expensive models, I narrowly decided to not go down the $350 TriStar clone route, so I'm not looking for something decked out and fully loaded, just a range toy.

    What I'm down to are:

    CZ-75bd
    CZ-75d PCR
    CZ P-01
    CZ-75 compact

Really leaning toward a decocker model since I wouldn't go condition 1 for carry if I ever use it for that.

What would you choose and why?

Yes, I intentionally left out the CZ-75b.

Out of those choices I'd go with the P-01 or 75BD. A little more $$$ gets you a SP-01.

P01 since you mentioned carry. The po1 has the aluminum frame I believe and it is a decocker. Personally I'm totally fine with manual safety and prefer those because I shoot 1911s more

I personally have a p01 coming since I like all CZs. But range toy would definitely be a sp01

Well if you you happen to carry it and you're not comfortable with condition 1, then I would definitely go the the full size decocker version. I've handled CZ's before, and the full size models are one of the most comfortable guns I've held. The compact models feel kinda funky to me because they're scaled down rather than redesigned to be smaller.

...oh, and don't get it in .40 cal. They're prone to more problems because of the higher pressures. From what I know, its because they use the same frames and such as the 9mm's. If you want a bigger caliber, go with the CZ 97 in .45, that's the CZ that's definitely on my list.

Nothing about not being comfortable with it, I used to EDC a officer model 1911, and pocket carry a P238, I just prefer to not have to worry about dropping a manual safety while drawing and getting on target.

I know the 75b isn't on your list. But I would try the 75b Omega if I was you. I have one waiting to be picked up right now and it has the best stock trigger I've felt on a CZ. if not I would go with the PCR. I'm not a fan of the rail for carry.

the CZ 75bd is the same frame as the full size steel 75b so if you are talking concealed carry it's not the best choice.

75d pcr is great for a polymer gun. be aware that factory front sight is very low on this model so you will need to adjust your sight picture or replace the sight. the pcr only comes in a 9mm as far as i am aware.

SP01 - no idea, never owned one

CZ 75 compact is my favorite. great weight (steel) and like the others fantastic ergos. CZ compacts are 3/4" shorter in the slide and 1/2" shorter in the grip (approximate).

for both carry and handling don't forget the impact created by double stack mags.

CZs are great guns but be careful, like potato chips one is rarely enough.

ps. you are probably going to hate the trigger to begin with, just shoot it and have fun, the grittiness will go away.

I thought the PCR was an alloy frame, not polymer

I might be confused, I have spent all of my free time in the past 72 hours researching CZ pistols trying to come to a decision.

my bad, the frame is alloy with a baked on poly finish.

oh, and the decocker drops the hammer to the half-cocked position, not fully down - i forgot to mention that.
