S&W 686/+ owners need your help

I'd like to change the grip with anything red (deep red or cherry like red), where can you get one? Went to S&W website but doesn't have what I'm looking for.

Ahrends will be able to make custom wood grips for you. I have two sets of their 1911 grips. Their revolver grips are sexy and functional, too.

    Google "ahrends grips"

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot, went to their website and saw some of the red grips that I might be interested in buying. Did you have any problems with yours warping? Don't know much about wood grips but according to the website, various factors can cause warping.

I got mine in June (after a 10-week wait) and so far I am very pleased with the two sets that I have. No warping or discoloration or anything. Their craftmanship is superb, too.

I especially like the fact that I got exactly what I wanted (checkering, width, color, wood, etc.)

Look for any stock that will fit a "L" or "K" frame S&W with a square butt. Just Google it and there will be tons of stuff popping up for ya. The 686s are among my favorite revolvers!!

So much to choose from, at first I was going with red but now I'm also liking the pine. I need weeks to decide which one.

OP, please remember that if you decide on Ahrends, you will have to wait approx. 10 weeks to get your grips from the time of order.

make sure what butt you have, it could be round or a square. If it was made after the mid 90's chances are its a round butt.

Pine? Soft wood for grips, I'm not thinking that is going to last too long. Most grips are hard wood, for a reason.

Thank you all for the inputs. I'm overwhelmed with great selections that's now grew from one to three.

Checked them out and great info I gathered. Thank you.

Thanks for the reminder. It will worth the wait.

Bought mine early this year. I'll check the frame when I'm ready to buy but that will take a week or two. I want to make sure of what color I want so that there will be no regrets.

                            Especially when it gets darker.
