    Bought myself a Colt today

Got it for what I feel is a decent price.

Colt MK IV Series 80 Mustang. Overall the gun is in decent shape, needs the a few springs replaced, namely the recoil spring feels extremely worn out. Bluing is decent condition, idiot mark on the frame from the previous owner and a small chip in the grip on the right side.

I paid $450 for it with the original blued colt mag and a stainless metalform mag. No rust anywhere on the gun, running it with a snapcap everything seems fine. Ordering a spring kit from Wolff to go through everything.

After I replace the springs and put it through it's paces at the range I am planning on sending it out to have the slide and frame duracoated, having the slide cut and having the sights replaced with low profile night sights and installing some VZ grips on it and replacing my S&W Bodyguard with it.

    Cool acquisition.

Those were nice little pocket pistols. I never understood why Colt discontinued them.

But ... a lot of what Colt does makes little sense to me.

Nice! here is a nice article from Cylinder and Slides and what they did to a Colt 380. http://www.cylinder-slide.com/colt380.shtml
The laws that forbid the carrying of arms or laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

I love those pocket guns. I have a SS and Blued Mustang and love both of them. The perfect size for walking the dogs at night.

The fact that they're back in production is a good example of what I find bewildering. It's as though Colt has no idea what kind of a gun company they want to be - they lack market focus.
