Help With Choosing Another .40 Caliber Pistol

I'm searching for another .40 carry pistol. I'm contemplating between the Beretta PX4 Sub Compact and Sig229 Enhanced Elite.

The Beretta isn't on the California roster, but I'm exempt....so that isn't an issue.

Which would you recommend. Your answers will not determine my selection, but I'm curious which you would choose. Please see links below for gun pictures and information.

I've also started a poll incase you want to vote.

    Thanks.

I'm not voting since I've never tried the Beretta, but I do have the Sig and I enjoy it. Has a solid grip, short reset trigger, night sights, rails, front and rear cocking serrations.

From looking at the Beretta sight, a big con if this is going to be for home SD or even for carry, you only have 30 minutes of night sights. For my Sig, I keep mine in the safe until I go to bed and the night sights are always ready to go.

Downside for the Sig 229 Enhanced is lack of holsters available. You'll need to have a custom holster made for good retention. There's a LEO local to me who makes kydex holsters and as soon as I have the money I'll be seeing him to make a holster for me. I also wasn't used to the way a 40 recoils, so I had to get used to that but I love mine now.

I'm a huge fan of the Beretta. Definitely have to vote that way.

You're comparing two totally different sized weapons. Obviously the smaller weapon will be easier and more comfortable to conceal.

I used to carry a Sig P228. It was intolerable due to the thickness of the gun and the length of the grip. I switched to a Glock 19 and it is far more carry compatible.

For the size and capacity, the Beretta wins hands down even though I'm a big fan of Sig (West German made P series and US made 1911's).

It also depends on your body size and the size of your mitts. Can you easily conceal a bigger gun because you're a big guy? Are your hands big and meaty? If so, go with the bigger gun. It'll be more comfortable to handle and shoot. And it will be more accurate due to the longer barrel and sight radius.

But take what I say with a grain of salt though. Because I have no experience with either weapon you have on your wish list.

M&P40 or 40c would be my suggestion.

Voted Sig P229 Elite. Very accurate, beaver tail keeps muzzle flip to a minimum for rapid fire, plus you can get a 9mm slide exchange kit and a 357 sig barrel will drop into your slide for a very versatile gun.

I have a beretta PX4SC .40 so I'm biased. Great gun, very solid and well built. Also have the 17 round mag with the Xgrip for when I want to carry owb holster.

                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I'd say H&K P30. Dang thing lasted over 91K rounds and ergos are better than Sig IMO.

                    I worry about Sig reliability.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

Haven't tried the smaller versions but the full size PX4 storm is a real smooth shooter in .40.

                          +1. This is what I voted since I also have a full size PX4 Storm .40 S&W.
