    Long Distance PPT?

My question is how do I go about doing a PPT of a gun that was purchased online and shipped say from SoCal to my FFL? I'm used to doing face to face PPT that require both party's signatures, thumb print and information. Thanks in advance.

For a PPT to be a PPT it has to be a face-to-face transaction...

If I purchased a gun through the marketplace here, how do I go about getting it transferred to me even if I had the other party ship to my FFL?

not considered ppt anymore since he is shipping it out to you. you will have to pay fees now not sure about tax. someone else who have done it can chime in

If the gun is a handgun that's on the roster... you have no issue, just have your FFL accept the gun and transfer it to you with a normal DROS.

If the gun is off-roster... then you're planning a trip to where the seller is

Not quite the answer I was hoping for but thanks. The gun I was looking at is off roster but it's in private hands and not a dealer. Just wanted to know what is the process and information needed to do the transfer and is another SSE required? Just trying to figure out what's involved and how much.

Yes, if the transaction is not FTF it's considered an FFL to FFL transfer and is subject to the roster.

Why not fly the seller to your area via Southwest? The additional fees to ship + SSE might be more than a roundtrip ticket... Just an option

                  to OP,

you might be able to do it in another way, which is to have your FFL to accept the gun as a consignment. After the 30 day pawn hold, you will then be able to DROS the gun.

Wouldn't the consignor have to go in and consign the gun in person?
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

it depends on the FFL. Some gunshops accept mail-in consignments with particular forms signed. Check with the FFL.

Ok, who is the FFL on your end?

Find out what they charge for a non-ppt transfers and what they charge for the SSE conversion. Tax will be due as well.

Then find out how much it is to ship on the sellers end..

Interesting idea. I had never thought about asking to do this.

This is true. Airfare should be about $150 + $35 for a PPT would have you < $200; compared to shipping fees + SSE fees + transfer fees + DROS

Flight sounds good, but he'll have to fly over there twice, unless he is willing to stay 10 days. 10 day wait period messes up the flight idea.
