Interesting observation at pistol range right now..

I'm at Chabot rifle/pistol range. On the 25 lane pistol range 17 lanes are occupied and of those 17, 10 are using Glock pistols. Pretty cool. Have a Happy and safe Labor Day.

I now have an urge to grab a 1911 and show up at Chabot. Who is with me?

Imagine that......I own many handguns, two which are Glocks.....hard to argue there not one if the best all around handguns out there (user friendly, accurate, affordable, gun to shoot, etc.)

Glock's are probably the most affordable handguns at the moment. I see a lot of them at indoor ranges.

Glock is what most people automatically gravitate towards to when they're new to pistols, I think. That was what I did too, when I first shooting pistols, I went to Target Masters and check out what I could rent. A Glock was what was recommended and I rented a few different types of Glock.

I think their affordability, reliability and simple maintenance makes them very popular.

I actually bought my first Glock after 20 years of shooting/gun ownership. Can't argue with great functionality and simplicity. Now I have a Glock 19 and 20SF. I still like my other guns too.

Not me... my first gun was a Ruger... I hate the ergonomics of the glock..
So I went with rugers HK's and M&P's No glocks in this safe..

I learned to shoot with a Glock, primarily 17 and 19. Then I held an M&P9 and I was like "Oooooo". Then I shot an XD9 and was like "Ahhhhh". So now I have an XD9.

Oddly enough, my first handgun isn't a Glock either, its a Beretta PX4 Storm 9mm.

And oh, I don't have a Glock (yet).

But I think it is common for people to have at least tried a Glock. Some will go on and try others but I think many will simply stay with it due to early exposure.

The first 9mm I shot was a Glock.

My first 9mm I bought was a Walther.

My first pistol was a glock. I have since owned other pistols from other manufacturers, like Sig, Beretta and Ruger. I am gradually finding that I prefer my Glock To any other pistol out there and my collection is slowly becoming based around Glocks.

Love the simplicity, takedown, ruggedness, etc, and don't mind the looks either actually. My first time shooting was w a cousin out in the mountains 20 years ago and his LE friend brought few guns for us to shoot and I shot a Glock 19. My brother was given a 4 in barrel 357. Both of us 11-12 yo at time and never fired a gun before- needless to say I knocked over a lot more bowling pins than my brother did! That being said, many years later my first handgun was a 1911. I do own a Glock 30sf though and like it. Really wish I could love the G17/19 but never been accurate with them, wish I could shoot them better but don't feel like going through thousands of rounds of ammo to get used to. Bought a SW M&P 9mm couple weeks ago and will see how accurate I am with that. Still probably end up getting a G19, so damn easy to use and clean.

I go to the ranges 2~4 times a month.

I see a fairly wide distribution between various pistols. However, the one I go to does not rent pistols. I see mostly Glocks at ranges where they do rent out pistols.

High variety in Angeles range. All the big name brand pistols.
