My 7.62x25 milsurp experience has been hard primers, sometimes requiring a double-strike to ignite, and brittle brass that cracks at the neck or above the base. Some lots are better than others.

S&B is the main modern manufacturer, though Wolf has recently started offering it as well. I've had good luck with the S&B, and haven't tried the Wolf, as I don't really shoot my CZ52 much.

Most users of S&B agree this is the best ammo for the CZ52.
You will run into hard primers with everything else.

Personally, I tend to shoot the Winchester white-box 7.62x25mm ammo - it works perfectly fine.

Now, for those who don't know, thegunwiki has a couple of articles for the CZ-52. One should be mandatory reading for any new owner (depending on the pistol's condition, it MAY fire on decocking!), and the other is just useful/fun (turning an 8rd mag into a 9rd mag).

I hear you can also check the decocker by inserting a #2 pencil down the bore and dry-firing... but considering the fragile firing pins, I would rather test it at a range with ammo.

That is what I bought first, because that is all I could find mostly at the time. I had 4 or 5 rounds not fire using that. Then I mail ordered the S&B and it fired about a hundred rounds with no problems. My CZ52 was unissued as you could see from the pics, not a rebuild. Mine really spits out the caseings, you'll get a dent in your head if your on my right side

Yep. Right you are, hopefully we can take the gray out.
The C&R status is only pertinent at the time of transfer. After acquired you may alter any C&R as long as the alteration does not break any local, state or federal laws. (you may not create an AW by Ca standards, machine gun, etc.) You log it out of your bound book as disposed to yourself. You may then change barrels, stocks, etc. You may sell the firearm in it's current configuration, but since you altered it you must use form 4473. If you return it to it's original configuration you may log it back into your bound book as acquired from yourself. It is now C&R eligible and may be sold as such. Here's how I found out.

You're right. Typically, the Winchester Metric 7.62x25 is identical to the S&B except the primers aren't sealed. They may have changed that, but when I last bought WWB Metric, that was the difference (along with about $1 more per box for WWB).

It's also worth noting that S&B's quality control has come under suspicion a few times, but nothing's been specifically proven that I know of.

If that is true then they vary from batch to batch because that stuff just went click and the next stuff I fired was S&B and all went bang.

I bought a CZ52 from J&G the first week they came out. Unfortunately I got too busy to go the range but expect to do so this week. Can't wait!
