CZ-52s are back

I'm getting one . Ammo is priced right. And I hear these are pretty nifty pistols...firing a round at 1600 fps+. Some replace the firing pins which I hear can be brittle. As they are C&R they are exempt from Cali's lame approval list...but of course still need to go through an FFL. I am sure there is an owner here who can tell us more. For 139 I am in.

handgun DROS'es are one at a time. The ONLY excpetion is PPT transfer, or if you got one the way I did.

If I use my C&R licnese to buy a C&R handgun(s) out of state, I can reg multiple pistols at once when I return to CA- did just that for a CZ52, an old Inglis BHP, and a Lahti

The CZ52 pack a pretty good punch, the pistol was originally chambered in the 7.62x25 or 7.62 Tokarev bottle-necked cartridge. While this cartridge shares the physical dimensions of the Tokarev cartridge, it can be loaded hotter than the standard 7.62 Tokarev As such, care should be taken when selecting ammunition to match the pistol.

Several East Bloc submachine guns, including the PPSh-41 are chambered in 7.62x25. These fire a yet more potent version of this caliber. Again, care should be taken to avoid firing these subgun rounds in both the Tokarev and CZ-52.

The CZ-52 pistol can be converted to fire 9x19 simply by changing the barrel. Some pistols have been retrofitted from the factory with a 9mm barrel, and aftermarket barrels are available. There are some feeding and extraction issues related to this.

The CZ-52 is considered a curio & relic by the BATF and is on the BATF's C&R list for collectors with C&R Federal Firearms License. Note that only the original caliber of 7.62x25 and not the 9mm conversions are considered C&R. Converting your 7.62x25 to 9mm is a gray area as far as its C&R status. However, there's nothing illegal about the conversion.

that's a pretty good deal for that ammo. century, J and G, SOG, AIM, SG, all have about the same price on that stuff.

My 7.62x25 milsurp experience has been hard primers, sometimes requiring a double-strike to ignite, and brittle brass that cracks at the neck or above the base. Some lots are better than others.

S&B is the main modern manufacturer, though Wolf has recently started offering it as well. I've had good luck with the S&B, and haven't tried the Wolf, as I don't really shoot my CZ52 much.
