Glock...I thought I would never do it...

but I just DROS'd a Gen 4 G17. I have never shot them well or liked the grips on them but I figured I would give one a try. It's being SSE'd at EBR Works (thanks guys)

I am hoping that the Gen 4 will allow me to get a better feeling grip than the previous generations and I will be able to shoot it better than I have in the past.

It's taking the place of a P226 on the nightstand because I recently gave it a full competition trigger job (Gray Guns) and ditched the night sights on it for a fiber optic front and blacked out Dawson on the rear. Although I trust it for self defense, I want something with night sights to put next to my bed.

I already ordered some Meprolight Night Sights for it. It will also be wearing a Surefire x300 and I am considering a Ghost connector (yes, even though it will be a self defense gun I am thinking about a couple minor trigger mods)

I am pretty excited...I guess if I don't like it, I can always PPT it to someone here on Calguns.

Good plan. Shoot it a lot. Don't quit on it after only 200 rds or so. And yes, let us know how you like it.

      Congrats!

Thanks. I'll give it an honest chance to make an impression on me. I just ordered 1k bullets and 1k once fired brass for it. I already have the power and primers because I also reload .40S&W.

I'll give it 1k rounds. I figure I will either love it or hate it after that and will decide then if it gets a permanent spot next to my bed.

Congrats. I never thought I would cross over to the darkside either, but I jailed a G19 Gen 4 on Monday. The Gen 4's feel a lot better in my opinion than the Gen 3's

Get as many Gen 4s as you can before it's too late!

I am the same way, looked into my nightstand where a $2,000 revolver sat as my self defense gun, thought something more appropriate and cheaper was in order.

Pass on the trigger job IMHO. The only times I have EVER had malfunctions with my Glocks is when I've messed with the internals. Just sayin. Great guns, exactly how they come outta the box (besides sights that is...) lol

I also pulled the trigger on a Gen 4 G17

It's a fine shooting pistol right out of the box. Big improvement over the Gen3 in my opinion, early runs had some issues but they've been worked out.

Sight update for your HD purpose makes sense but definitely hold off on the trigger changes until you've tried the stock one for a while.

Congrats and welcome to the darkside

My only advice is as follows:
                              Shoot it
                              Have fun
