A drill press works good too. Its a little easier to pull the handle down than to screw down the clamp to remove the sight. Not everyone has this option available though.

Are you pushing away from the ejection port? So many posts state to push toward the EP but perhaps all handguns aren't equal.

I've used several sight pushers over the years, and I have to tell you that it's worth every penny to get a good one especially if you plan on trying different setups and swapping sight at least once a year. I bit the bullet for the MGW tool when it was on sale at Midway, and have never looked back. I can adjust sights with in seconds at the range with the slide still on the frame (but locked back).

i'd really hate to see an already ugly pistol be defaced. if anyone in santa clara county needs a glock sight adjustment tool, I can lend you mine for free and do your adjustment at any local range.

That is why I usually do not buy used guns from bubbas. How often do you see a used gun that does not have a rear sight? If you go to enough places or been around for awhile you will see them.

Springfield sent me a box for my XD, I dropped my gun in, they adjusted the sights and test fired it for free.

I only had to have one of my XD's re-sighted but they did a great job. Hitting cans at 35 yards now.

They also offered cheap upgrade to tritium sights but I decided not to.

Moral of the story, gunsmith isn't always a expensive option.
