        Bore-Store!
They're not only cheap, they're awesome. I use them for all my guns, they prevent rust, lint and keep them from scratching against each other.

I've never used those wipes. Do they leave a protective film of some sort on the gun? If so, you should be alright. If for some reason you neglect your gun and don't shoot it , make sure you wipe it down again in a month or 2.

I bought those reuseable Hydrosorbent Silica Gel, and I do notice it need to be " refreshed " more when it's in the case with the guns than when it's just laying next to the case inside the same room.

DO NOT!!!!, and I repeat DO NOT allow a dessicant pack to touch any part of your pistol IF you decide to put it in a case with your pistol as described in previous posts. I learned the hard way after following similar well intended advice a few years ago with a perfect 100% Colt Pocket 1903 that was given to me by my Grandfather in 1968. It is now a 60% pistol that has horrible pitting on the trigger guard, slide and frame. I now understand that dessicant packs absorb moisture as intended, but the silica gel beads, as they become saturated are HIGHLY CORROSIVE when they come into direct contact with any metal. My once collectible sweet Colt is now just a shooter. I now just use "Sack Ups" or "Bore Stores" for storage and a liberal amount of Corrosion X applied directly to pistol. While I do use dessicant packs in my safe for humidity control they are placed in a tupperware type of plastic container with vent holes in the cover to absorb moisture and prevent any chance of dripping or coming into contact with any of my firearms. I hope this information helps save just one person or firearm suffering the trauma I have experienced. c good

Unless Kimber has changed their factory case, they use an egg carton type foam inside. May not be a problem in dryer climates like southern cal, but in foggy San Francisco or similarly humid environs, that foam will act like a sponge, absorbing moisture from the air. Knew a guy who lived out by the beach who had weird circular rust spots at regular intervals all over his new Kimber Royal. We finally traced the source to the factory case. The spots match the contact points of the foam...

The Hydrosorb I'm using does have a viewing window for me to see when it needs to be "refreshed"and I do refresh it before it get near the limit.

I remember there where a few posting/complaint about brand new kimbers with rust, mine was purchased used, and it had a little surface rust but it was on the slide near the the firing pin where the bullet will sit.

I keep my TLE in a safe along with desiccant (not touching). I have another "night stand" gun. No problems so far. It's been about 2 yrs.

I store my Kimber Eclipse Target II in a soft sided pistol case. That case goes in the safe. I've had that Kimber for at least 3 years. No problems with rust. The frame, slide, and barrel are made of stainless steel, so they are fairly rust resistant anyway.

If you live by the beach, a light coat of oil is a good idea.

Colt 1991A1 loaded in a gun vault in the headboard, Colt Gold Cup Trophy in the original box in the safe, Kimber Pro Carry II in the original box in the safe and the Kimber Ultra CDP II loaded in a paddle holster in the safe. The safe in in a closet in the house, never had a moisutre problem. Most of my other guns are in thier original boxes in the safe except for two others that are loaded and available at strategic locations.
