    1911 guys quick question

Where do you guys store your guns? I picked up my Kimber Eclipse custom II today from turners after my 10 day period. The guy that was checking it out to me asked me if i had a place to store it because the box the gun came in is not good at keeping moisture out. I told him i plan to store it in my mini vault.

so my question is where do you guys store your 1911's? Im guessing because the gun has alot of metal/steel components that the salesmen was referring to preventing my gun from rusting...

input? sorry if this is a noob question.

Keep mine above the sun visor. No, I am kidding. Put some oil on that baby and throw her in a safe.

A mini-vault is fine but buy some desiccant and throw a small bag in there.

My guns that are in storage are in their factory case, I just make sure to wipe em down with a silicon rag every now and then.

I also use a silicon oil rag and wipe them down after use. I read something about storing in a foam case is bad and traps moisture, any truth to that?

hmm..ok well i currently keep "rust hunter gun wipes" in my range bag for quick wipedowns after i'm done shooting. That with keeping the internals well lubed and i should be ok?

Mine is condition 3, cleaned and oiled, gets shot all the time so it gets cleaned and oiled all the time. I also leave the box slightly open...

You could clean and lube the gun, wipe it down with a silicon rag, and then throw it in the case with a desiccant pack if you want to feel better.

                            I haven't had any problem.

My 20+ years 1911 have always lived in the blue plastic box it came with from the factory.

I always clean, lube, and wipe a light coat of CLP (or Hoppes) on the outside after shooting it and then throw it in the safe.

20+ years, not a spot of rust.
