Anyone have the Burwell trigger job done on theirs? I am thinking of sending it in to have it done.

No, but I did have CG member 1911Whore give it an action job and it turned out quite nice! If you're in the Sacramento area, I would seriously recommend him!

I've had an MP 45 for a few months and found the trigger went from tolerable to pretty good somewhere around the 500 round mark. Have +1000 rounds through it with no problems so far.

Thanks to everyone who posted. I had heard about the trigger not being the best. One of my main reasons why I'm interested in the gun is that my hands are a little on the small side (I'm not afraid to admit it).

I had a Glocks before and they never were very comfortable with my hands. I have a 1911 but I've come to believe that a DAO gun is a better defense gun since I'd rather not have to pull out the 1911 and forget the safety in the heat of the moment.

From watching numerous Guns & Ammo TV shows which really seems like an extended commercial for the M&P, I've noted that they have the interchangeable back straps.

Anyone with smaller sized hands willing to admit it and talk about their experience? If not, I certainly understand.

My hands not that small, but my sons is. He is 15...... so when he shoots the thing I change backstrap for him - seems to fit him nicely

I have shot one. Put three hundred rounds through it. I liked it. Have nothin' bad to say about it.

My old lady likes the smaller backstraps. I shoot better with the large ones, but my hands aren't that big. Dude, just buy the gun!! You'll be pissed you didn't earlier, you could have owned it by now!


PS, my trigger has almost 1000 rounds through it, still the same as day one. Feels great, sometimes I think people get acclimated to shooting and say "the gun/trigger really loosened up after XXXXX rounds!!".

My M&P functions flawlessly. I don't know what their complaint on the trigger is, mine is just fine. MY advice is to rent one, or borrow one and shoot it. I've let several people shoot mine, and everyone comes away impressed.

I really like it. But...

I got a lemon. Sent it back to S&W multiple times.
The slide was locking back prematurely with rounds still in the mag. Then it started dropping mags when fired.
On the 4th time back, they replaced it.

250 rounds so far on the replacement 40c w/o any problems.

If it fits your hand, buy it. Great value.

this was the dilemma i had when picking my first pistol: XD or M&P... so i did the logical thing and went to shoot both of them. no amount of magazine articles or posts on calguns is going to change the way they feel in your hands or how comfortable they are to shoot.
that being said, i shot the XD the best and that's what i went with.
both are very popular guns for HD, plinking, USPSA, etc. go with whatever you shoot best with!

Between glocks, XDs, and the M&P, I believe the M&P is the better balance between comfort (by far), controllability (all 9mms), trigger, and definitely appearance. With a couple thousand rounds through my M&P9, it's clear to see why the polymer market is giving up alot of it's shares to M&P.

As for the trigger job, it's an easy DIY and if not, Dan Burwell is a master with the M&P and has a 100% perfect reputation for quality of work AND very fast turn around time. He blasted my slide and internatls and polished my feed ramp and muzzle and put on a FO sight and had it back to me in a week. When he blasted the slide he also smoothed the trigger a little, though it wasn't needed.

I took my new (picked up Monday) M&P 45 out this morning before work for a quick 100 rounds.

I love it!

Controllable and accurate, no malfunctions. I tried out all the backstraps, the medium pointed and felt best.

The trigger's maybe a bit on the heavy side, but it's pretty darn good for a striker-fired pistol. I imagine will get some work done by Burwell sooner or later.

i tried a rental one, felt great in my hand but trigger seriously suck. still better than sigma. but no way near glock, xd, sig or hk. though, with in 100 round not ftf, fte. so over all, if they ever improve on the trigger(or after market trigger job) i'll consider a good buy.
