I'm thinking about picking up an M&P given all the good reviews I've read about it. I'm interested in anyone who owns one and in particular anyone who had one who didn't like. I read so much positive press, it would be good to hear from somebody who didn't love it.

factory trigger sucks.... It didn't get much better after 250 rounds.
otherwise - great pistol.

If you decide to buy it plan to spend some $ on trigger job, unless you are proficient enough to do it yourself.....

Great gun; I only wish I could carry one for work. I would send it it Bowie to get the trigger job set.

Stock triggers are always a complaint on sub-$1k handguns. Luckily, trigger jobs aren't expensive (shipping is tho').

I agree, the stock trigger is seriously one of the worst triggers available. It progressively stacks heavier and heavier until the trigger breaks.

But I have felt a Dan Burwell trigger job, it makes a HUGE difference. For only $50 bucks too (back then).

My M&P functions flawlessly. I don't know what their complaint on the trigger is, mine is just fine. MY advice is to rent one, or borrow one and shoot it. I've let several people shoot mine, and everyone comes away impressed.

No complaints here. Both the M&P and the XD feel incredibly natural in my hands - great point and shoot guns. My M&P40 shot great out of the box, and even better after an action job with the trigger set to 3.5lbs!

Hmm, I need to take my MP 45 out again to see if my opinion will change. The initial range experience made me put it on the shelf. Its trigger is not the best there is. The recoil is quite significant compared to even the 4.25" lightweight 1911 I have. And the safety lever turned out very uncomfortable for me to put my thumb on.

I know my views are purely subjective, and is against popular opinion. But you did ask if anyone had negative experience on it, and I want to share mine.

I love my M&P. The trigger is just o.k. for me, but for $65 Dan will make it pretty sweet.

It feels great in the hand, is accurate, and tames the .40 S&W better than some steel guns.

I've had a M&P40 for a few months now, and I'm a big fan. The grip is more comfortable than a glock, the price was right, and it is more accurate than I am. I bought it used and after ~1000 rounds fired by me, zero failures of any kind.
I haven't had any problems with the trigger, you squeeze it and the gun goes boom, but you get what you pay for I guess.
My only complaint is the model I have basically doesn't have a safety other than the one on the trigger, which seems inadequate to me, having grown up on guns with an actual lever and a red dot that makes you feel all safe and fuzzy inside. On the other hand, the lack of safeties has really made me concentrate even more on muzzle/trigger awareness and safety all around since it's basically good to go as soon as you rack the slide.

I have a M&P full size in 40 cal, great gun with a good trigger (remember its DAO) that breaks at about 5 1/2 lbs. Have over 1500 rounds through it with no failures.

Anyone have the Burwell trigger job done on theirs? I am thinking of sending it in to have it done.

My neighbor owns one and likes it. I however don't like the feel of the factory trigger in regards to it breaking it in the middle of the actual trigger. I might need more practice but I have had a hard time doing controlled pairs with it as quickly and accurately as with say an XD.
