Why 1911 is Among the Best and Most Popular Handguns?

Anyone who knows anything about guns, however, realizes the importance and significance of the 1911.

    Thanks,

    Ok USA!

They don't do anything for me though and I doubt I will ever buy one.

All that stated above but more than anything its the SAO trigger makes even newb's shoot decent. I like my colt gov't but it wont feed HP ammo reliably so its just a toy to me.

I've only shot one once (obviously don't own one). I really liked it. Hope to own one someday, it's in the plans...

That gun design has been around since 1911, that alone speaks for itself. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

1911 triggers are the benchmark, which all other triggers are compared to. Expensive aftermarket triggers for other types of guns advertise that they will make your gun "feel like a 1911".

This is it right here. The 1911 has a very very nice SA trigger that is incredibly forgiving.

Thats why people like it. People say "It's so accurate and amazing" Well the truth to that is that most people suck at shooting and the 1911 is going to absorb your faults and cover for you.

THat's why it's amazing. BUT if you only shoot 1911s, it makes it harder to shoot other guns...not because other guns are not as good, but because you are not really as good as you think you are. On the other hand, if you own only 1911s and only plan to ever shoot 1911s, then that's not a point to consider.

I think it's ability to help out poor shooters is also what made it such a good wartime (WWI/II) gun...your average draftee could shoot it with enough accuracy to save himself.

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Take it to a Pistolsmith and have a Reliability Package done.

I think it's like the older WW II weapons also.. nostalgic. It's been around so long there must be something to it lol. I love my 1911 and although I have other pistols I still use my 1911 in IDPA and everyday carry even though it's a 5". I have had no issues with JHP's I just had to run several boxes of different types to find a couple she liked to run. I use Hornaday CD's and Speer GD's.

That's why I CCW the Beretta which replaced it in military service.

The 1911 may have been in wars for 100 years, but Masetro Bartolomeo Beretta was arming the world 400 years before John Browning was ever a wet dream.
