    This can't be true

I was reading a blog about Ca CCW particularly LA county and the blogger went on to comment about the simplicity of a LA County CCW permit and cited this as a sample of the CCW Permit issued out of LA.

This can't be true. Can it?

Looks just like OC one. The paper is very thin, so it is nicknamed "rice paper".

YIKES! If that's true I'm surprised there aren't forged copies floating around all over the place. Looks like it was done on a typewriter. Not that I think gov't is on the cutting edge of technology but I would think CCW permits would be kind of credit card style or driver's license style.

If a cop was to find a concealed weapon on you, and you produced a forged CCW, all they would have to do would be to call into the issuing precinct and verify it with them whether it's legit or not, and then you would be screwed with a couple of felonies... I'm sure there are some checks and balances in place...

Hmmm...Looks exactly like the one that I have in my wallet. Except mine is folded in half to fit and laminated to preserve it.

Oh, and its filled out with my personal info and my three preferred carry guns.

I would expect a little more from our state. I mean, we have one of the hardest (if not THE hardest) IDs in the country to forge. But then again, CA is retarded when it comes to guns. Sorry, that was offensive to the mentally handicapped.

Humboldt County's permit looks pretty much the same as well.

I actually accidentally put my wallet through the washer a few months ago. A lot of stuff got ruined, including the wallet itself, but amazingly my CCW was intact. The colors in my photo got washed out a little though; now I kind of look like a yellow ghost . . .

If they call in your CCW# and it doesn't match the info on your permit, you're going to be screwed. I really don't see the point of getting worked up about forgeries.

Thats it.... Could make it on a xerox machine- But youd have to use the cheapest paper you can find (We affectionately refer to it as "Rice Paper"- It doesnt matter how long the term of the license is, the paper is guaranteed to disintegrate within 24 months of issuance.)

Now... Start asking CCW holders how many times they ever had to show their license to an LEO...

IT WAS done on a typewriter!!!! Im having mine updated next week... Ill go in, hand the old one to her, she'll shove it in the typewriter, fill out the info, hand it back to me and thats my license...

There is a rumor that OCS is moving to a CARD like a DL....

LAPD reserves have a card for their CCW but what they do is simply take that paper above, fold it in half, add a passport photo and laminate....

just out of curiosity, when applying for a ccw does your age matter? I mostly hear about people with ccws are retired somethings. Im very much discouraged to ever apply because i am one of the younger guys on the forums. Pretty good reason to apply no record. Im just well... *coughs* in my prime? hehe

It shouldn't.... But it might. Remember, its a completely discretionary system....

what did you do? i wanna do it too now =D. at 37 you still have over a decade on me.

I think to be real if i were to apply for ccw, even with the best reason ever, if they take age in account i'd get laughed at so hard as fast. I always thought a ccw would be more... hi-tech?

                          Age shouldn't matter, I'm under 30.

You do know that there are only 19 issued CCW permits in LA right?

The odds of a non-public persona claiming to have a valid LA permit is quite slim...
