    LGS swapping mags

I started DROS on SSE Sig this week and noticed that the LGS had swapped the 2 original Sig mags with 2 new Mec Gar mags. I asked them why they swapped the mags and they said they dont have 10 round limiters to sig mags. At the time, I didnt press the issue because Ive been trying to buy this pistol for a while now. I know Mac Ger mags are good quality mags but its still bothering me that they replaced $45 mags with $25 mags. Am I justified to think this way or is this common practice when SSEing a pistol.

Make that point to them. They took $90 of mags, you should get equal dollar value in replacement (call it 4 mags) or apply the difference to the SSE cost.

    Good luck.

10rd Sig mags are very very hard to get right now, for your SSE to happen they probably did it to make the deal happen right then.

Say you'd like the original mags as rebuild kits.

I would be a little upset.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

            Many companies outsource manufacturing mags.

I thought Megar was an OEM supplier for sig???

But if they started DROS and realized the mags were over the CA limit, I see why they swapped them for 10 round versions.

Ask them if you can provide the solution to limit them to the 10 round or less limit????

was this an online purchase, next time try to have the seller send the rebuild kits directly to you, separately.

I bought it from a local store that Ive have bought numerous firearms from in the past. Ive always been happy with the service which why I keep going back but this time ..... Im a little bummed out.

Ive asked them in the past if they would sell 30/30 mags as parts kits and they dont so I know they wont give me the Sig mags as parts kits.

And Ive also herd that Mecgar is the OEM mag manufactures for Sig but Im not sure. If this is true, it might not be too bad of a trade

I would rather have the Mec Gar magazines than the new Sig (Check Mate) magazines. Mec Gar are better quality IMO.

Would ask about the price difference though??

                      From midway USA

Mec-Gar magazine quality is so well known that firearm manufacturers including Remington, Sig Sauer and Walther have Mec-Gar build magazines under their brand names. These are high-quality, reliable steel magazines at an affordable price. This flush-fit magazine offers increased firepower and features interlinked magazine components plus an Anti-Friction Coating.

^^ This. If the mag included was original German made 10 round mag, than I would not be happy. On the other hand I have friends complain about the new Check-Mate mags not feeding right, switch to Mec-Gar than everything is fine with his P226. Since the German made mags are no longer imported, I'd take Mec-Gar than Check-Mate any day.

The German “zipperback mags” were originally manufactured by Sig. Mecgar took over factory mag production (90’s?) for Sig only to be replaced recently by Checkmate. You can easily distinguish manufacturer by where the mag was produced. Current ones will either say made in Italy (Mecgar) or made in the USA (Checkmate).

I had a out of state purchase that the online seller shipped the firearm and didn't include any mags. I emailed them to request they send them as rebuild kits. They replied that they will not ship any mags to CA over the legal limit even if I already own preban mags to have them ship it as rebuild kits and would not compensate the value for the mags when not included. So I requested to have them ship it to my brother-in-law out of state which they finally did. Otherwise they keep them and make 100% profit when the resell them. I wish these out of state online dealers understood that it is perfectly legal to ship as rebuild kits to repair existing preban mags. But in this case I think it's just another way for them to profit from restricted states.
