Well, I was told they are treated that way in terms of the 1-in-30 rule.. so if you buy a used out of state gun it starts the 30-day clock.

    Live and learn..

Check your receipt, since it's a new gun, bought from the dealer, it might only be $25.
Pretty sure it was $35 total.. and it wasn't a new gun, which is why I thought it would be like any other PPT.

Don't recall saying it wasn't my fault.. then again, I think our laws in CA are almost designed to cause confusion.

Hey guys I have a question about sales tax. If i purchase a pistol from a guy who lives in sacramento he has to ship it through his ffl to my ffl. Now does this still count as a PPT or do I have to pay taxes on it? Please help I need to get this figured out so I can get it moving.

So our stupid, pointless, and convoluted gun laws just cost me $35. yeah! lol
YES. It must be FTF for it to be PPT.

It will be considered a dealer transfer but don't have to add any tax since it's from the same state that you are residing at.

You are sure about this? I just want to double and triple check because every one says ppt's are nice cause no tax. Thank you for answering my question.

                Ouch!

Sorry to hear that. I'm clean and still dread getting rejected.

I'd almost rather have a credit card denied than a DROS

when are people going to learn that NEW or USED does not matter. It depends on how it is DROSed.

all used guns from out of state are treated as NEW USED in California.. All used guns from inside of CA are treated as USED in CA. If a dealer has a bunch of LE-trade-in Glocks that are have been used that he is selling from inventory, they are legally considered USED handguns. When the dealer sells the handgun it is DROSed like any other other handgun is, and the 30-day rule applies, even though it is a USED handgun.

the 30-day rules applies to all handgun transfers, unless the buyer is 30-day exempt (LEO, etc) or the transfer is a roster-exempt transfer (like a CA-defined PPT). none of the exemptions rely on whether or not the handgun is USED.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Just make sure to tell your FFL that you are buying a used gun from a Private party but his FFL is doing the shipping.

I had a DROS held up once. I called the number and found out an old ticket which had been paid and dismissed with traffic school was putting a hold against my CDL. Of course license renewal wasn't due for some time, so I had no idea there was a hold. I found out 3 days in so I had time to get a copy of my proof of traffic school completion and take it to a courthouse in time. My ten days finished without problem after that. The store told me that's the first time they saw a DROS held that did not end up having to be reDROSed.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Both parties must be California residents for PPT. In case DROS fails, the firearm has to be returned to the owner who must be a California resident.

In your scenario, it might be a interstate FFL scenario and generally goes from person to FFL to FFL to you.

                              Edit:
