    Ar Pistol

Looking to buy an AR pistol before I move so I can register it and return if need be. I would rather build one but I only have 1 month left before I leave.

Found this pistol, guy has great reviews.

Only concern is the 1/9 twist. Seems slow for that short of a barrel, should I opt for the 11.5inch version with the same twist?

    the 11's are billet lowers!!

    Calguns feedback appreciated!

Unless I'm mistaken, both the lowers in those links are billet.

If you look at the actual picture of the gun it appears to be a forged lower. The last picture on the listing is of a billet lower so Im not sure what its supposed to be.

Does it seem like a solid pistol? Looks like a lot of fun...

^^^ Your right, I just saw the last picture of the billet lower and didn't pay close attention to the lower used in the pictures of the pistol.

I have never heard of Orion, but assembling an AR isn't rocket science, so they should function fine. On a side note, the rails they use are fugly.

yes building one is the way to go, but I have 2 jobs and Im focused on the move right. Just want to buy something that I can fool around with out of the box and customize at a later date. Just looking to purchase my cali legal gun before I take off. This way I can come back to the state with my stuff

Youre right about the rail being fugly but its not that bad. Found this one, will prob pick it up.

              Let me get this straight.

You currently live in CA and will be moving out of state soon.

You want to buy a CA compliant AR style pistol before you leave.

You want to buy it so that you can bring it back if you move back to CA.

If I get you right I'm not sure why or how you came up with your thinking that you NEED to buy it now for it to be legal later.

Let's say you never lived in this state and you decided that you wanted to move hare. You could bring ANY handgun you owned so long as it is not a prohibited firearm.

So, if you owned an AR style pistol all you would need to do is install a magazine lock; I prefer the Bullet Button, before you moved to CA. When you got here to stay on the legal side you would need to register any handgun you brought with you within 60 days.

Now let's look at what I think is your situation is.

You currently live in CA and want to buy it now; before you move. So you could bring it back later.

Again not sure why you are thinking this way but i will take a guess.

I'm guessing you are thinking that if you buy now, move and then come back at a later date your AR style pistol would still be legal in CA if they out law them in some way shape or form.

Well it seems like you are planning to leave sooner than later. If that is the case it really doesn't matter.

              Why?

Because right know these are legal. If they out law them in some way shape or form they will probably have some kind of registration for any that are in the state for residents of the state.

If you leave sooner than later you will not be a resident of the state when and if they out law them in some way shape or form. You would not be able to register it in CA. So, if you moved back to CA you would not be able to bring it back with you despite the fact that you bought it here in CA.

What's my point in all this?

If I'm correct in why you want to buy now it really won't help you out later on.

If you really want one and are moving OOS I would just wait until you got to where you are going. You will find much more options and won't have to pay $50 extra to make it CA compliant.

If they don't out law these by the time you return just do as I said before.

If they do out law them you won't be able to bring one to CA regardless of where you bought it.

              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
