Cerakote Operator Milspec 1911 before and after

Great job by Greg at GKCArmory. Completed it a lot earlier than expected and great person to deal with.

Nice. How much did it cost? I've been thinking about getting my 1911 Cerakoted but the only place around here I know of that does it wants around $300 or so.

The whole thing was $200 for two color. He's a certified applicator and has a 30 day guarantee. It's a great job. One color job on the whole gun is is $165 I think. If you bring in a complete gun that needs disassembly / reassembly someone there can do it for $60 extra.

I really like the new color on the frame. The slide not so much. That's just me though.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

The coating looks like it has a tactile texture to it.

              .
Slide color is cool!... as a "color". (I'm not fond of my two-tone CDP either, but the aluminum frame's black coating serves to prevent galling against it's stainless slide...)

I'd have slapped the cocobolo grips onto the black Operator and called it a day.

Single-color 1911's and their function accented with traditional, checkered grips of whatever material (hardwood, please) remain so effing awesome it makes my head spin.

Where did you find that gun? Never seen a full rail in GI trim before, interesting.

SA made these for only 3 years before they were discontinued. Harder to find nowadays in originial mill spec condition as many were used to build custom guns. They shared the same frames as the original full length operators and were priced well below TRP price point.

Edit: sights appear to be non original to the gun as SA made them only with the basic GI sight setup.

The slide is burnt bronze and the frame is tungsten. The metallic colors seem to be more forgiving with little scrapes and dings over time.

Yeah not too far from my house too. His digital camo stuff looks nice. He also sells 80% lowers, milled.

I LOVE the color of the slide!
The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

I like the gun itself... and the new shade of the frame and the grips... The slide is unique/rare. I think GKC Armory did an awesome job! I would like to re-coat my 1911-22 and I hope there's one in SoCal that can do an awesome job like that. I'd pick different color/s though.

                              Congrats!
