I use Testor's enamel for lots of things, sights, Safety engravings (ie selector switches) serial numbers and the slide release on the house 500 (significantly easier to tell people to press the yellow button to open the action).

Only the slide release has shown wear. I touch it up every once in a while. And as it is an oil based paint it will prevent rust too.

Used to be that you could buy it at Toys R Us Walgreens, Woolworths and other various department stores. Not anymore. You MIGHT find some at Sprawl-Mart, I haven't recently. As plastic modeling has disappeared as a hobby its harder to find.

Last time I was at Michaels they had a whole area for it. Had the spray cans, jumbo bottles, brushes, paint syringes, etc...

Some targets and kmarts (if any)

Go to Michaels and look at their paint pens.

+1 on the paint pens - they come in sets if you want a variety. They really make even application easier than brushes, which are hard for me to get flat and even, though they require a light touch to avoid it oozing over the edges.

I keep a some in my range bag in white, green, and orange. It makes for easy testing, as you can just put some on, shoot with it for a few minutes without even waiting for it to dry, then wipe off any that's still damp and put on another color. Once you get home, it all cleans off with nail polish remover or a brass brush. For permanent apps, like anything, you'd want to degrease first.

A minute of shaking and they're ready to go. I keep mine in a ziploc in case of leaks.

Went in to a Walgreens to look at the polish they had and a sales gurl asked what it was for I told her it was to paint the front sight and she took me over to the cheep stuff and we spent an hour talking about shooting and how different colors effected her aim, had to break her heart and tell her I was married. Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

White Witeout. It's also flat colored which works better for some conditions.
