CCW gun choice help!

Why not the 642/442? Perfect ccw carry IMO. Although I did like the feeling the the bodyguard.

Of the 3 you listed I would go for the KAHR 45. Common caliber to your current carry pistol but thinner and lighter. The RIA is a good quality pistol but is only a few ounces lighter than your GI 45.

I have a 642 and a G30 I always carry. Some pants and shirts don't allow the G30, so it's to the 642.

I'm not really a revolver kind of guy. They look like they are compact and light, but I just can't bring my interest up enough for a wheel gun. Maybe I'll see if a LGS has any and I can manhandle them for a bit....maybe I'll come around.

I plan to carry it in conjunction with a GI 1911, but can't decide if I want a new platform or stay with .45cal since I already have mags, bullets, bore snack etc.

What would you choose? Why?

First, congratulations on your excellent choice of spouse!

I'm not clear on whether you're currently carrying the 1911, but if you aren't, you will find it's a chunk of weight to haul all day. The RIA is a good choice, but still weighty.

I wouldn't choose the .380 because, if you were to shoot someone with it, and they found out, they would be pissed.

With your choices, take the Kahr, subject to your acceptance of the trigger pull. It's a smaller, more concealable platform, but maintains a solid caliber for self defense. But if you hate the trigger, then grab the RIA.

(And, because a Glock reference is always required, the G30 and G36 are excellent).

I voted for the Bodyguard just because I have found it extremely beneficial to have a tiny pocket gun for those times when you can't figure out how to pack your full size. However, since your primary carry piece is a 1911, a Sig P238 would be a good choice too!

If you still want to carry another gun after reading then go ahead.

Benefits of a CCW Revolver:
1) Always ready with round chambered
2) can be shot from inside a jacket pocket without snagging slide.
3) 38 Special +P is a good Self Defense Round.

I would NOT carry a RIA or Khar .45, .380 is below my personal carry minimum caliber.

I would carry a 1911 style .45, HK or Sig in .40, Glock in 9mm, although I do like the new Kimber Solo and Micro.

My biggest factor in a carry firearm...Reliebility, Reliability, Reliability...If it doesn't go bang reliably when needed it's useless.

Why are you limited to those three choices?

Personally if I was on a budget and was in your shoes and wanted a new ccw pistol I"d be looking for a Ruger LCP to ppt or SSE. First rule of a gunfight is to have a gun; a truly pocketable .380 beats a .45 or 9mm you left at home that day because you were tired of the weight or wasn't convenient to conceal with what you were wearing.

Although I like the Kahr P380, the Ruger LCP is a great pistol for the price. I like small revolvers also, but they don't fit in pants pockets as well as the small .380's due to the cylinder width imho.

I carry a ruger lcp now. Before I carried My seecamp 32. Now sometimes I Carry both, lcp front right pocket and lcp right hip pocket.
I convinced My dad to get an lcp Because he was always leaving his Khar in his truck.

From those choices I would stick with the 1911 platform. Just make sure that If you go with the RI, that it runs flawlessly! Your carry gun must be 100% reliable. Many different pistols have come and gone on my permit, but my trusty Kimber compact that I have had for 14 years always remains.
