Glock19 issues

I picked up my new G19 earlier this week and took it to the range today and I've got a couple issues:
1. Magazines are VERY hard to load 9th/ 10th rounds into (2183 followers) none of my other Glocks have been this difficult

2. Slide is jamming and not loading the first round. This happened with Rem JHP and with regular Fiocchi 115g ball ammo. This did not happen every time but at least 3 times during the 150 rounds I put through it.

I also DID NOT field strip and clean this gun before going to range. I usually do field strip and clean any handgun before its first range trip, but didn't get around to it for this one. Any thoughts on what's happening?

On the issue of loading the magazine, give it a bit of time. Also, the mag loader you should have received with your gun is a huge help. Use it.

For the jamming, that is odd, but i guess no gun is impervious to jams...id say give the gun a clean and try again

+ 1 Agree on the magazines, 10th is always hardest with New Glock 10 round mags.
Just use the included loader till it settles in with use.

As for the Glock 10 round 9mm 2183 follower: You can call Glock and explain the issue with C.S. They should offer to send you a different 10 round follower: [ 9mm3 ]
* Dont have pics on hand, but I'm sure there are some images of the two and the angle in which the round is angled in the mag.

^ Probably not the best example, but those are kind of like changing the GI follower to Magpul followers in AR15 Mags.

Sounds like the rounds are jammed in there pretty tight. Did you try locking the slide back first, inserting the mag and then releasing the slide. Don't ride it forward, just let is slam home.

The 2183 followers in 10 round magazines are junk.

I have a G19 10 round magazine (gen 4 magazine with cut outs on both sides) with the 2183 follower that does not feed the last round. I also have a 10 round G17 magazine (gen 4 as well) that gives me stove pipes on the last round with my baby glock.

I called Glock and they took my information and said they would send me 9mm3 followers.

Sounds like the tight mag is jamming the slide. How does it run with only 8 rounds in the mag?

BTW with Glocks you don't want to clean before shooting the first time.

load and unload the magazines fully a dozen times. see if that helps

both issues sound related to the magazine spring.

You could also take a thick wooden dowel in a piece of wood and just work the magazine up and down on that to work in the spring.

I had a very similar issue as yours not 3 months ago. The followers ARE the problem. As above, call GLock. They will send you the 9mm3 followers.

-3rd gen
- this is happening with the slide already locked back, then inserting the mag and letting it slam home
- runs fine with only 8 rounds in the mag which leads me to believe its a "mag" issue and not the gun

* Glock must have made a container load of the 2183 followers . . . . thought by now they would all come with the 9mm3 follower. . . Its a hassle to call in/wait, but the CS from Glock to send you out new ones is Top Notch

I had the same issue with my G19 10 round magazine - would FTF the last round of JHP ammo with the 2183 followers. I also received the new followers from Glock but I also came across this thread in which someone discussed using a nail file to smooth out the follower plus bending the spring.
It seemed to fix the problem:
