As a big fan of the 1911 in .45ACP, I have never understood the point of a 9mm 1911..

Large, heavy pistol with a single stack, small caliber low capacity magazine?

      WHY?

The whole draw of the 9mm pistol is that they hold buckets of ammo, which the 1911 does not. Sorry, just curious!

        Lower cost ammunition for practicing.

Very low recoil with steel frame. Low recoil in alloy frame.

Ergonomic grip unlike most double-stack magazine pistols.

Easily tuned superior trigger and customization options for hand size.

10+1 capacity in 9mm is the same as many double stacks can have under California law.

The alloy framed Commander in 9mm is an excellent carry piece for those preferring 9mm and single action with safety.

        Does that help?

low recoil, accurate, great for small hands, etc. female friend of mine wants a 9mm and she has small hands, so I was going to have her consider a Springfield EMP.

LAX Firing Range has a S&W 1911 in 9mm. I rented it before buying mine.

If I had to describe myself in one word it would be "bad at following directions"

There's 3 Springfield 1911 loaded 9mm on Gun broker right now. I'm sure many of you guys know that these are hard to get.

                    That's great info.

As for why 1911 in 9mm? It's for recreations. Also in California where the most of us are stuck with 10 rounders so single and double stack don't really matter. If you go to S&W's website and look for their 1911 9mm pro it tells you the purpose is for recreation!

Who says all guns have one purpose only?
