Nevertheless, I feel that you and Scott, provide a service that is invaluable. You get a feel for the customer through conversation.
You take the time understand the needs, and capacity of the buyer to make recommedations. Purchasing-as well as selling any firearm is a big deal.
I am lucky to have been recommened to you. As well as done business with you too.
I have developed an awareness/education via CG and GA that I am not ready to go out on my own to make such an important purchase without a professional's guidance

Honestly only go online if its unavailable locally. I bought a ruger bearcat for my son's birthday. (Who am I kidding. I bought it for me. Sometimes I allow him to shoot it!!). I called lots of local shops and they were non existent. As in not even orderable for dealers. So I had to go on gunbroker. But it would have impossible to find in time. Or at all. Everything went great. Did the dros at EBRWorks and was very happy. Other than all the damn state fees and taxes.

Your LGS is trying damn hard to get everything in. And there's enough that you'll find one who will work for you. And yes some (many) OOS dealers will not ship to kalifornia. Can't say as I blame them.

Edit: remember the LGS is the last line of defense if you will. We're engaged in a sport unlike any other. The paperwork is enormous and onerous. We lose the LGS and say goodbye to it all. I mean I'm all for competition and free trade but when the government is waging war on us it's a different story. The shops are there and there's no other way to get product into the state by and large. What will happen when there's three gun shops left in the entire state?

Unfortunately galleryofguns.com has had next to no semi auto pistols available for weeks now. Right now it's a handful of low end off roster 1911's in .45 and .22lr, some off roster cz-75 clones, and a couple AK pistols you can't buy either.

Bought my first gun earlier this year through gunbroker. I originally placed an order for the gun at my LGS, but they had no idea when they'd get it, and there were dozens available on gunbroker. Got the gun in a few weeks instead of ... well, I'd probably still be waiting for the LGS to get one, and saved some money on it (even with shipping and FFL fee it was less than what LGS was charging plus sales tax). Just like buying on ebay - make sure the seller is established with 100% positive feedback, and get it new so there's no issue with condition of the gun.

I've bought a lot of guns of gunsamerica. It's like anything else, if you find a really good price, do the math and insure it will still be a good deal with shipping, tax and transfer.

For me personally, once they started imposing the sales tax on our end it really opened up the margins where you have to find a pretty screaming deal for it to work out better than a local shop now.

Given the current "ammo issues" facing everyone..
If you had only $1000.00 to spend:
Would you spend that money on a Handgun or,
6.8 ammo?
It seems that due to the limited opportunities to get 6.8, or any ammo, I am considering the ammo over a handgun.
What do you think?

Another thing. Transfers are taxed on the base price of the gun + shipping. Get nasty when you add up the transfer fee and 25$ DROS. This extortion state is ridiculous.

So I'd only transfer rare or uncommon guns.
