IMO a gun isn't safe or not, the person handling it is.

Only as safe as its handler.. Just make sure to always keep your finger off the trigger until you're about to fire. Follow all the safety rules. Do any of your friends own a Glock?

If you ever compete or carry with it, which most people don't/can't, just be careful when you reholster.

For .45acp I would probably go with the 30.. However I recently handled a 36 at the store, and I gotta say, it felt really nice. Never fired one tho

Glocks are as safe as any other hand gun. Its user error and FUD.

It has a proven track record and is carried by many law enforcement agencies. There are always going to be cases where something tragic has happened and the gun is blamed. I have personally owned one along with many others. Sold mine along time ago along with my XD. Why, personal preference. I felt it was safe enough i just didn't like how it handled, and how it felt. I stick with sig, beretta and 1911s. Mainly because i like the feel of metal, the heavy weight and having an exposed hammer and double action. being able to decock the gun feels a lot safer to me. But that's my opinion, im sure you'll be getting a lot more.

I think the Glock is as safe as any other handgun out there. No external safety you have to worry about flipping on prior to reholstering. No de-cocker device you have to worry about decocking prior to reholstering. The Glock takes the dumb human error out of the equation by replacing all those external manual safeties with internal safeties that don't require you to manually turn on or off. Just pull the trigger when your ready to fire and keep your finger off the trigger when your not.

That's my view of the Glock.

Tuck your shirt in when using a Serpa holster.

Safe to me means it will go bang every time, and the Glock will do just that. Excellent guns.

Glock are safe. Your finger should only be on the trigger when your ready to fire the gun. Every time you pick up the gun you have to perform a safety check.

If your uncomfortable then get a pistol with a safety/Decocker like an HK.

The only thing UNsafe about Glocks is when POfessionals get complacent.

There is no manual safety. I was always instructed to not trust a safety, anyway, and to keep my booger hooker, holster retention straps, and everything else, OUTSIDE the trigger guard until I am ready to fire.

I used a G27, my first and only Glock, in IDPA, using a hardshell Sidearmor holster, inside the belt type, and shot over 1K rounds with no safety or ftf issues of any kind.

As someone else said, if you don't think you can keep your finger out of the trigger guard, either do the samry thing and give up shooting, or at least get some type of DA/SA setup so you REALLY have to violate rule 1 to get excitement.
