It might be easier to acquire a Ruger LCP via ppt or single shot around the same price. I own both and although the Bodyguard has more features, I think the LCP is the better gun. Careful when you purchase an early bodyguard via ppt, they had a lot of issues.Last edited by c3 rolling; 05-15-2013, 7:19 PM.Comment

I bought a BG380 via PPT and sold it via PPT when I got what I use now.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Ditto on this, LCP with a Crimson Trace or Laser Max any day over a Bodyguard, I haven't owned a Bodyguard but have shot them side by side, IMOP the LCP is a better less expensive and more reliable gun. I even liked my LCP better than my off roster Kahr P380, and I am a huge Kahr Arms fan.
But if you must, you can get the Bodyguard as a SSE (search) I believe PRK Arms in Fresno and Visalia has them from time to timeComment

No it doesn't. It sucks because I was told by Ruger not to dry fire LCP's but you always end up doing it when the mag goes empty. Ive tried counting rounds during training drills but that didn't work out lol. I mean its not that many dry fires but it can add up and that's not something I want on my daily carry. The lock back was the only feature that made me want the Bodyguard. I actually pulled the laser out of mine, I just need to find grommets to plug the holes lol.Last edited by c3 rolling; 05-15-2013, 11:07 PM.Comment

which caliber do you all have the ruger lcp in 9 or 380. So i could not buy a new bodyguard from a friend in a different state and have it be legal here or how does that work?Comment

The LCP only comes in 380.
No, you can't buy a BG380 from a friend OOS.
If you have a grandparent/parent/child that lives OOS they could gift you one.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

Where are you? there are some dealers in Cali that sale the .380 Bodyguard as a SSE to us normal folks, don't let the single shot term scare you, you will end up with a normal Bodyguard. Search it. It's the same way we buy the LCP's.
You can buy a Bodyguard used in Cali, you can get it as a SSE pistol, or as mentioned, if you have a child, parent or grandparent in a free state they can send you one as a gift.
It has to go through a Cali FFL to complete the transfer, it cam be shipped to the cali dealer or delivered in person by the relative, you can not take possession of it untill after the standard ten day wait, it's not a PPT so they can charge you what ever they want, not all FFL's know how to do this, and many will wrongfully tell you it's not legal, they are wrong it is.Comment
