      yes, that is normal.
removes the trigger bar ad polish the holy hell out out it.
the loop that engages the sear and the part that engages the striker block.
Or get an APEX kit and really feel the difference.

does it smooth out by itself after a few hundred rounds shot?

it does but the gritiness does not totally go away unless you polish or APEX kit.

            ok thanks.

what exactly does the polishing process entail? is it difficult to do?

I used a 1500 grit finger nail file ( thanks to the wifey) and some 2000 grit wet sandpaper to polish my m&p40, made the trigger pull so much smoother , got rid of all of the grittiness and feels a minimal bit lighter also.

I have a 9c with a test fire date of Jan/2013 and the trigger seems smooth to me with no clicking. Then again I'm pretty ham fisted so....

i think the thing that's more important to polish the inside of the firing pin block, from my experience thats what was making the gritty feeling
Selling lots of Pistol brass, lots of 38 and 44 mag!

Possibly, But on my m&p40 as soon as a polished those areas it smoothed out perfect. If you look real close at the areas I have arrowed there are small ridges from when they punched the part out with the press.

Those riding on the striker block causing the grittiness in my trigger. The only other thing I polished was the loop on the trigger bar for the sear. I just field striped the gun ripped a small piece of 2000 grit wet sandpaper and pushed it between the sear and the loop with an empty mag installed ( stupid mag safety) to hold pressure on the sear and repeatedly pulled the trigger to add pressure till it was polished.

Feels like a completely different pistol.

Not saying mine is the only way to do it, Just stating what I did to fix my trigger.

I don't wont to remove the rear sight yet either lol, As soon as I upgrade the sights I will throw in the Apex USB and call it good.

I sent mine in to ATEI Guns and got a reduced length of pull, 4LB, actual reset. They did amazing work, and they polished all the parts.
